Just remove enough screw on the wheel well liner to be able to pull it away and get to the wire. No need to remove the entire liner. Nothing to do in the fronk either.
Because Ford uses the same bulb for both brakes and turn signals. The diode filters out the turn signals. Without it, your chmsl would blink when using turn signals.

The filter is not needed when using the the auxiliary wire. And if you use the filter to tie into the break wires under the rear bumper, you will get interference with the factory trailer package.
