  1. Lightning vs Rivian - new truck buyer…

The larger bed is the #1 reason I went with the Lightning over the Rivian. #2 was probably the frunk. #3 was 9.6 kW power. Also the financial incentives by Ford (0% and full tax credit) made it a no brainer. It was just the better value. I do think the Rivian has the looks though and maybe...
  2. Sigenergy (PointGuard) bi-directional system

https://electrek.co/2025/02/21/nema-bidirectional-ev-charging-standard/ I hope this means that there will be multiple options soon for bidirectional charging.
  3. San Hima Roof Top Tent

I think I would mount similarly as you have if I pull the trigger. Thanks for the insight. One more question, do you leave it on the truck full time or do you take it on and off when you go camping? I would like to leave it on at least for the warmer months vs the hassle of removing it.
  4. San Hima Roof Top Tent

I like your setup. I might have to think about an awning.
  5. San Hima Roof Top Tent

I'm thinking about buying the San Hima Hotham RTT and was curious to find out if anyone here has purchased one for their Lightning. I have a low profile bed rack and would mount about 4 inches over the bed and behind the cab. I guess my main concern is the length at 84". Should I worry...
  6. I’m Concerned My Lightning Has Left Me Jaded.

I think the nail is in the coffin for ICE. Political shenanigans might delay it, but the turning point has gotta be pretty damned close. I mean there are a couple limiting factors here... infrastructure and battery tech (range/charging speed) are going to be resolved in a few years.
  7. Ford EV Trucks still eligible for IRS tax credit in 2025.

Legit points although future costs of solar are in doubt IMO. Tariffs will be more in vogue than subsidies starting 2025.
  8. Ford EV Trucks still eligible for IRS tax credit in 2025.

Thanks for the heads up... Maybe people are feeding me exaggerated numbers but if I only generate 16,000 kWh then ROI is nowhere near 15 years. I'm going to revisit this for sure. As far as investing goes though, I think you might be wrong. I have quite a bit of confidence that electric...
  9. Ford EV Trucks still eligible for IRS tax credit in 2025.

I'm planning on a 15 kW system to (hopefully) run a net zero home with 2 EV's. Electricity is cheap in Idaho (10 cents per kWh) so RoI is probably significantly longer than most. With solar, it really is a no brainer, even in Idaho. RoI will be 15 years... then free juice.
  10. Looking at Solar: questions

Thanks for the heads up. I've got much to learn here.
  11. Looking at Solar: questions

I'm basically copying what you did here with my build, but more like 35 x 400W on a directly south facing roof. I'm up at about 45 latitude so I designed the roof at a 1/1 pitch (45 degrees) mostly just so the snow slides off easily but it should optimize production at the equinoxes which isn't...
  12. Official: Scout EV Pickup & SUV debut w/ Gas Range Extender, 4x4, BOF, Lockers, Sway Bar Disconnect -- All Specs, Wallpapers, Videos

I don't know if it is a fair enough game to call it a competition. China is subsidizing exports. US doesn't have a choice to not protect our market. The competition will be domestic IMO.
  13. Official: Scout EV Pickup & SUV debut w/ Gas Range Extender, 4x4, BOF, Lockers, Sway Bar Disconnect -- All Specs, Wallpapers, Videos

Ford is paying dues early on EV adoption. We all know it's the future. Good time to buy Ford stock.
  14. Anyone getting Concerned that Ford is not in on EV for the long haul

I think the reality is that we are still a quite a number of years away from the moment that the EV truck has made the ICE truck obsolete. Batteries are what maybe 3 years out from a range and cost perspective and charging infrastructure maybe more. What is that number? 400 mile range for...
