So I didn't get around to trying the 12v battery trick.... But I did happen to just let it blow the cold air while I was driving and it eventually stopped after maybe 5 mins on it's own and hasn't happened again the last few times I started the truck. Weird!

I can plug them both in on the same home outlet yes. I'm guessing the answer might just be "try a smaller vacuum/dust extractor or one with less draw". Haven't done much testing/research on the pro-power limits as yet (and rarely would ever need this set up), but just curious as to others...
