My man, I promise you I have no desire to be 'Chevy defender guy' here, since I personally don't find the GM EV options very compelling at all.
That said, GMAuthority is just a commercial blog. It's no more affiliated with GMU or 'official' than this site is affiliated with Ford. And sadly, the...
@WXman Perhaps I misunderstood you. Your post I quoted ended with the following paragraph, pasted in full:
âThat's 100% the reason EV truck sales are still a tiny fraction of ICE truck sales, and nobody will convince me otherwise.â
Your post had six paragraphs leading to that conclusion. All...
âPeople don't buy Cheyâs because they know the quality sucksâ is a meme answer, not a serious claim. Chevy and Ford are about equally popular. Both are 100 year old companies with some of the highest brand recognition in the world. Both have millions of devoted fans, and both have millions of...
I mean itâs up to people if they want to have a serious discussion or a jokey meme discussion. Itâs the internet so itâs not like the stakes are high.
If weâre being serious, the Chevy + GMC twins outsell the F Series. Doesnât mean I think theyâre better and certainly doesnât mean this forum...
Agree to disagree. I think your issue is totally legitimate but represents maybe 10% of the reason EV truck sales lag ICE trucks.
Again if your 100% the reason is correct then max range GM truck sales should have totally displaced SR Lightning sales. Howâs that working out?
I'm very sorry, I was trying to respond to @Smokewagun who said the Lightning failed because the range was mediocre. I didn't see several more comments had come in including more from @Smokewagun who softened/clarified his original comment.
You are no doubt right that a 600 mile $50k Lightning...
Why do you think the Lightning would do better with 500 miles of range and the associated higher price? What is your example of an EV where that combo led to sales success? Critics love 400-500 mile EVs, but buyers donât.
IMHO no. Supply seems stable after years of adding and removing shifts, and raising and lowering prices. If anything the end of the tax credit will mean supply is too high.
Also the used market is pretty weak, which doesnât suggest inventory is tight.
Truck looks good.
Itâs funny you can buy an Eibach pro kit and be buying springs to lift the truck, shocks to lift the truck, spring and shocks to left the truck, or springs to lower the truck.
By all accounts Eibach has great phone support to explain these things, but they could do with some...
I like aspects of all of this.
Pushing the SR battery into a smaller percentage of the lineup makes some sense. Iâm all for options and consumer choice, but if Ford can say âstandard 290+ rangeâ (with an âexcept fleet modelsâ caveat) that will help with marketing. I also like the slight hp and...
I really donât know if the people who think the Lightning (yes even the Plat when factoring price in at all) has a good interior just havenât looked at the competition at all, or if theyâre glass-half-full people who grade it on the best features (like leather seats and the screen) and ignore...
Bolded for emphasis mine.
I did not catch this previously or did not properly internalize it. I see looking more closely at his thread that heâs ~4â of total lift. Him deciding UCAs are needed certainly makes sense now :)
Putting all of this together as well as the excellent recommendations...
I donât think they say âextra weight onlyâ due to ride, but rather to keep the total lift under 3â. As you probably saw, the 2.6â OEM spring and 2.9â Eibach spring lift heights are at opposite ends of the shock mounting options. Ie the Eibach spring adds 2.9â by itself while the shock alone adds...
Thank you for the reply. I especially appreciate your update that the replacement control arms are advisable. Do you have a specific brand in mind?
As for the Tremor wheels, I confess despite being fairly handy around cars wheel backspacing and offset has always confused the heck out of me...
Thank you for the response and the link to the other thread. I concur the setup @HI Zeus went with is an appealing choice. Iâd probably not keep the OEM wheels since while I like the look the wheel spacers and cutting make me nervous. I also see that, for instance, Rough Country has a full...
Good looking truck @digitaldad. I plan to use this same lift, but with Tremor takeoff wheels, so narrower wheel with same size tires.
Can you clarify if you purchased one control arm product or two? I see a link to one but wasnât sure if I was interpreting correctly. I also see some trucks with...
Tire Rack says 7.5â - 9.5â wheels; are you seeing 8â+ straight from the manufacturer? In any case width requirements are usually very conservative in my experience.
