  1. Trade value shock

Just received an offer to trade my July 2022 Platinum Lightning in on a PowerBoost Limited. $51k for a $94k MSRP truck. Oh well. But I’m giving up on EVs to tow, must do. CarMax offer was equal, but would lose that sales tax benefit for trading.
  2. 10 K Refund.

No one made you do the deal. Literally no one. You could have walked at any point up to closing. By signing you said you were satisfied in both a legal and moral sense. There is ZERO bait and switch. And even if it were, that is neither illegal nor immoral. No one has to close, full stop. It was...
  3. 10 K Refund.

Because they negotiated a price and profits are the name of the game. Get what the market will bear. I am selling two antique vehicles right now for multiples of what I paid. Guess that's price gouging? Cost means almost nothing in pricing metrics - it is all about market. Look at Tesla's...
  4. 10 K Refund.

It's called a competitive market and market pricing. Circumstances change, deals change. A year ago Ford gave me more than MSRP for my year-old PowerBoost King Ranch with 15k miles on it. That ruck is now worth $20k less than the trade valu ethey gave me. Guess I owe them money? Markets and...
  5. 10 K Refund.

complete BS. Zero basis in law or point of equity. No one held you up. I paid $136k for a Tesla that now sells for $89k. Happy customer nonetheless. Got value for payment, end of story. Such whiners.
  6. 10 K Refund.

Ford is not bleeding cash on EVs. That's oil company/related media FUD. Ford has solid EV sales margins (they make money on every EV sale, lose money in teh sector due to accounting rules on write-off of new investment). The segment "loses" money due to R&D expenses, stand-up of new...
  7. Installing a Home Integration System for Intelligent Backup Power (without SunRun)

I’m working directly with Ford engineering and customer relations (with engineering lead), have promised not to provide contact info anywhere else, as that isn’t their day job and they’d be inundated. Sorry I can’t do better…
  8. Installing a Home Integration System for Intelligent Backup Power (without SunRun)

Yeah, it can be a mistake to invoke the lemon law buyback terminology, best to go through customer relations. They get that they sold me something that simply will not operate as advertised.
  9. Installing a Home Integration System for Intelligent Backup Power (without SunRun)

State-dependent laws say that if a vehicle can’t be fixed within certain parameters you can initiate a lemon law repurchase, where they have no option and must buy it back. To avoid this black mark, customer service at Ford can start a buyback on their own if it meets certain requirements. In...
  10. Installing a Home Integration System for Intelligent Backup Power (without SunRun)

Wow, good luck! You definitely have a case. Ford has oferred to write off the HIS installation costs if I remain patient and allow them time to fix it, with November 1 as a drop dead date.
  11. Installing a Home Integration System for Intelligent Backup Power (without SunRun)

I was given the buyback option but was convinced to give them time with an incentive.
  12. Installing a Home Integration System for Intelligent Backup Power (without SunRun)

I have it, but haven’t paid a penny for the HIS.
  13. Installing a Home Integration System for Intelligent Backup Power (without SunRun)

Thanks for this. What in your experience speaking with them leads you to believe the fix is an OTA "to send the update that increases the Bluetooth strength." This again seems like a hardware spec, not software - is this something a seemingly knowledgeable tech told you?
  14. Installing a Home Integration System for Intelligent Backup Power (without SunRun)

Excellent post. I had no idea that BT uses 2.4 wireless channel… which can explain why Ford’s engineers said it is due to Wi-Fi interference (I may have mixed this up with it being a Wi-Fi comms issue between the truck and charger - you are correct that they set up my phone so I did not do that...
  15. Installing a Home Integration System for Intelligent Backup Power (without SunRun)

Holding our collective breath… again, I’m not convinced that it can be fixed via software. Hopeful, but there are hardware limitations here, and so many handshakes… underling issues may be fundamental/inherent to the design. I am impressed with the senior people who own this task at both Ford...
  16. Installing a Home Integration System for Intelligent Backup Power (without SunRun)

I do not believe this is correct. As I posted elsewhere, Ford engineers in charge of the HIS program came to my home, along with the head of installations at SunRun. After establishing that everything was installed correctly (upon completing a full-reinstall), and getting both of the apps...
  17. Installing a Home Integration System for Intelligent Backup Power (without SunRun)

Agreed, but the practical reality is that even when/if operational, the Ford/SunRun HIS is proprietary and will work only with Ford products, and none of the other (many) vehicles that are being released now that have generic bidirectional charging. I understand why Ford went first from a...
  18. Installing a Home Integration System for Intelligent Backup Power (without SunRun)

I am told "by the end of the year" by Ford engineering. As noted above, I remain skeptical that a software solution can solve the underlying wifi interference issue. I'm no expert but seems like a fundamental design issue and use of inappropriate technology to do the interface. We shall see, and...
