Wow, that's a fantastic looking print, nice job! Amazing design work too, @mr.Magoo! I just realized that's a two-piece console... what a great solution to the covered bolt problem!
I just talked to someone on one of the Lightning fB groups that's designing a Nalgene remix too in case anyone...
Hey, yeah sorry, I totally missed that front right bolt hole in your original pics. Yeah, that would totally be sufficient from what I've seen.
My mistake; sorry for the confusion!
These models are all out there as a result of a non-commercial design. Please consider supporting the creators (yes, that includes me, but that's not really my point here, haha [and TY for those that were kind enough to tip me through thingiverse!]).
I've not taken a stance on people printing...
Love the clean OEM look! Great alternative for those that want to just use the OEM tub with a completely drop-in shifter option (with absolutely no build volume concerns). I think this definitely warrants a "remake"/fork on Thingiverse if you want to just go that route. Happy to add them to...
If you want to hold off a bit, I'm going to try seperating the body with the convoluted tool boggle sent me. Feel free to give it a go now of course, but I do think the sidewall will be much sturdier and locked in once I use that tool. I just haven't had time to work on it yet.
Sorry to hear that. Yeah, I used non-standard magnet sizes from what I think is typical for gridfinity and that mainly had to do with a deal I got on the ones I used.
If memory serves (someone else asked the same question a few days ago) the magnets are 6x2mm. If you want to go 1:1, the...
Learning CAD is my main all-weather hobby at the moment, so this is my "wild and crazy" cold Ohio Friday night fun, haha. Screaming goat videos are a close second as far as entertainment goes, so it was a natural fit for the pfp.
So, after posting, I went back and re-read what I'd skimmed...
OK, that was.... way more ass pain than I anticipated, haha.
Anyway, here's what I made:
I was all set on the dovetail idea, so I completely modeled that, but then started to worry about interference issues from support interfaces, so then I modeled a few more non-starters, threw all those...
I sliced the model like you suggested and I think it will work. I might do an additional dovetail at the bottom of the box. If anyone think this would be helpful for their build, let me know and I will try to post it this evening.
This is why I'm grateful that you joined in on the project, haha.
I really like the dovetail idea and that would all together eliminate the need for fasteners to join the two halves. It would also potentially open up a opportunity for some modularity where you could just print the shift box...
Interesting idea. Probably the easiest way to do this would be by cutting the model in half flush with the front (firewall-facing) face of the shift box feature, adding some internal-facing tabs on the resultant front half of the bin and either heat-setting nuts in the shift box face, or just...
This was actually my first idea when I started the project, and I ordered the stowage tub from Ford, but I found that there would need to be so much modification and cutting on the bin that it made more sense (to me anyway) to just print a single part. I ended up using the bin for quite a bit...
Good question, so I would imagine that disconnecting the 12v system would be the safest option, but I did several disconnects/reconnects with the truck simply "off". I DID accidentally disconnect once with the truck on or in accessory (can't remember which for sure) and, surprise surprise, it...
I've gone ahead and merged all constituent bodies in the step files for the 3 console versions I have up on Thinigiverse. Should be a little easier to handle now.
I see a few people having print issues, and I might not be the best to help since I have a large build volume with an enclosed chamber (K1 Max), but a few suggestions in case they help:
1) I always try to follow the processes in this guide when I'm dialing in a new filament: . Differences in...
