Thanks for helping me understand what the changes in my range display means.
Using your suggestions, I was able to use the Menu controls on the steering wheel to move to the Main Menu and select Navigation, and then cancel the set destination.
Now my dash display is back to the way it used...
Thanks. I didn't think I set a destination. Maybe I did? I'll go into navigation and try to see if I set a destination. Is there an easy way to clear all destinations?
My dassh screen changed after an OTA update, and I don't understand what info it's trying to tell me. Please help me understand. I've included before and after pictures of my display from different time periods. I marked up the areas that changed. The "166" number stays the same.
I was...
I like it. Looks professional. Some people have used paint also. Also, some people only painted the black piece in the middle. Either way looks good.
I agree, Ford should have not made the grill all black. I would have preferred a chromed grill along the simulated wire-grill ridges...
I believe I found the source of the foul smelling coming from my vent.
I took the cabin air filter out to check it for mold or signs of a mouse nest. Of course it is located behind the glove box.
I ended up finding a total of 4 stink bugs crawling on my filter. I actually found two on the...
One nice thing about the F150 EREV, is the Electric Lightning lives on.
There is the possibility that Ford can easily go back to BEV F150's when batteries evolve to solid state and are lighter. The packs will be cheaper to manufacture, and easily last 500 miles.
BEVs are the future.
You have helped me understand the nature of the beast. Great information and great YouTube video that explains in detail how the HVAC works in a Lightning.
I tried to use a borescope to see the evaporator through the filter slot and squirrel-cage fan, but the tolerances were too tight. The...
Thanks... I will try what you suggested.
Does anyone know of an aluminum and duct safe way to flush the evaporator coils? Is there an easy way to get to the evoporator coil? I am assuming the intake side is just above the cabin filter. My cabin filter didn't smell. So I guess the source...
Has anyone had to solve the problem of an odor coming from your air vents?
The odor smells like it may be from mouse nest/urine, but maybe not. That smell is the closest odor I can relate it to. It seemed to start after I used the A/C the other day. The smell is not there if I don't run my...
Thank goodness the discovery of the mistake was made. It never hurts to check and double check when it comes to stuff that doesn't add up. I'm happy for you.
Let us know how it goes from here.
Best of luck.
I would recommend three things to keep in a little toolbox/tote in your frunk...
An OBD2 scanner for reading Lightning codes, a 12v jump box, and a wrench to disconnect the 12V battery to reset your EV. Of course scan the codes before disconnecting the 12V battery.
This kit will solve a lot...
Can you talk with another dealer in your area. Some dealers don't have BEV technicians. Maybe this dealer has to subcontract the work out through a tech who normally doesn't work for them.
Maybe a different dealer will help you more.
There have been too many of these PTC heaters to fail in...
Be careful about that replacement part number you said Ford gave you. (NL3Z-18E254-B) It doesn't seem correct. Double check with another source. The last thing you need is for them to or der the wrong part. Also if you get used, check the manufacturing date on the case of part to make sure you...
I've worked in the electrical world for my whole career. One time i witnessed a situation where water somehow got into a stress-cone connection on a 13,800 V three-phase connection in an interlocked armored cable in a substation.
The substation was at a higher elevation that the Electrical...
That's the Cabin Coolant heater, PTC heater, and I guess some are calling it an auxiliary heater. It's odd that it stranded you. Mine went out and I could still drive my truck... my windows would fog up and I used a small space heater to heat my windshield and the cabin. It could be dangerous...
Likewise, I am a big fan of my Ford Lightning. I have a '23 XLT. I'm sold on the BEV powertrain. I love the full size truck. I don't see me buying a smaller truck in the future.
On another note, I believe Ford was smart for making an EREV version for the segment of the market that needs...
I have a '23 XLT that had the same problem. It ended up being the Cabin Coolant Heater which is the HV PTC heater.
There was a recall for the '22 and some '23's. There was a manufacturing defect in some solder joints in the heater. My vehicle wasn't in the recall, it was just outside the...
Yeah, the rules for getting the tax credit are very tight for used Lightnings. Of course, the dealer mislead me about multiple issues, one being the tax credit. I bought my Lightning, and was proud of my purchase price. On the way home, I was thinking, "with my tax credit, I got a great deal."...
