  1. PIT maneuver vs. 2023 Lightning PRO

Glad you're OK! The shear number of Lightning trucks I've seen crashed online and in social media owner groups has been staggering. I don't know what's going on, but it's a little concerning.
  2. Slippery Mode Makes The Lightning Safer in Snow

I suppose it depends on the specific area you drive in. For me, here on these windy, hilly, dangerous one lane rural roads, I'm extremely thankful for Slippery Mode!
  3. Windshield glass optical quality

Yes, Ford truck windshields have been like this for MANY years. Junk. They all have pits and marks in them after driving on the highway for a few months. I've also seen some that look wavy, like a circus mirror that distorts clarity of vision. I don't know why they are so bad because I...
  4. Daily Charging Limit Percentage - what's yours set to?

I have mine set to 95%. But as mentioned above, Ford already preserves the battery pack by not allowing 100% of the total capacity to be used. So I don't think charging to 100% in the menu settings should be all that detrimental to the life of the pack.
  5. Tri-Fold vs. Sliding Tonneau Cover

Hard roll-up is the best. Allows FULL use of the bed, or covering any amount of the bed, or covering all of the bed without removing anything. Also is fairly secure. Hard tri-fold is my second favorite. The sliding ones are expensive, take up valuable bed space, and sometimes the track...
  6. Disabling F-150 Lightning's Beeps, Dings, Chimes, Honks, Bings, Bongs, and Dongs

The 3" seatbelt extenders are some of the best things I've ever bought for my modern trucks. Simply plugging one into the latch allows me to still use my seatbelt normally when I'm on public roads, but also defeats the seatbelt chime, automatic park if the door is ajar, warnings on the screen...
  7. WSJ: Ford Considers Scrapping Electric Version of F-150 Truck

Leased mine too. The $7,500 was shown as a discount on the paperwork, plus the dealer chipped in another $1,000. Brought the sale price down much closer to the residual value and lead to really low monthly payments. It's the sole reason I am in a Lightning today, because I did not show up at...
  8. Ford's Important Tip For Driving Your Lightning in the Cold: Preconditioning / Pre-Heat Your Battery

100% true. So this still is not a possibility? I do not drive the truck every day, and when I do I don't leave the house at the same time every day. Would be nice to be able to set a timer on a nightly basis for when I expect to have to leave the next morning. Or maybe even a button to hit...
  9. Bad weather mileage - 1.5mi/kWh

Got a message on my gauge cluster tonight that I hadn't seen yet. It said "Outside temperature is low. Plug truck in when not in use." This happened at 26°F. It's not even winter yet....
  10. Bad weather mileage - 1.5mi/kWh

I have always said that the more efficient a truck is, the more sensitive it is to change. And boy you can really see it on these Lightnings. Losing half your range just because of a change of seasons? Ouch. I lose a hand calculated 75% of my range when I hook on my enclosed trailer. Ouch...
  11. Price per KW to charge at home🏠

$0.13 here, which sadly would be a lot lower if not for the fuel surcharges and environmental fees that hit us hard during the previous administration. The people saying they pay $0.00 because they have solar systems should put a little bit of context into that claim. Solar systems aren't...
  12. SUBLIME experience - 2025 LIGHTNING after 2 months...

Respectfully, what you're saying makes zero sense. EVERY single time a reporter asks someone why they are hesitant to try an EV, the #1 answer is range anxiety. #2 is charge speed. Now, in the world of TRUCKS this is compounded, because people who buy trucks intend to haul, tow, and recreate...
  13. SUBLIME experience - 2025 LIGHTNING after 2 months...

Well if that's the attitude Ford Motor Company shares, their electric truck will forever be <5% of their full size truck sales.
  14. SUBLIME experience - 2025 LIGHTNING after 2 months...

Yes, these are amazing trucks. I've had so many trucks it's pathetic. This one is probably the best overall truck I've ever had. Now, imagine if they can figure out how to get 450 miles of unloaded range and 200 miles of towing range out of these. And put chargers in more places. And design...
  15. "Gen 2 F-150 Lightning" development leaked in Ford employees' Linkedin profiles

Well I was looking for job listings at the Ford Truck Plant in Louisville, and noticed that elsewhere in the company they are currently hiring engineers and professionals to work on electric vehicle programs. They specifically mention wanting candidates who specialize in battery thermal...
  16. Charging Overnight: Rivian Dealership Learns the Hard Way

I'm not sure I'm on board with that. I've actually seen ICE vehicle fires in my lifetime. They almost always start very slowly and grow gradually, giving ample time to get out of the vehicle. By contrast when a battery pack, particularly lithium ones, decides to go they either explode or...
  17. Charging Overnight: Rivian Dealership Learns the Hard Way

It's terrifying. Just last week I installed a heat detector in my garage. If the temp rises too quickly, or if ambient reaches 130F, the alarm will sound and activate the smoke detectors inside my house also.
  18. What is the maximum speed for the F150 Lightning?

In most cases, speed limiters are set to the maximum rating of the tires for safety. I've seen some new 4x4s limited to 98 MPH from the factory because of the tires.
  19. Interesting Article On Current Guardrails Vs EVs

All these people act like HD pickup trucks don't exist. Lol. It's hilarious. We've had 7,000 to 9,000 lb. pickup trucks running up and down U.S. roads for decades. And they number in the hundreds of millions. In terms of weight, EVs are not presenting anything new that isn't already in...
