I apologize if this isn't allowed. But if anybody might be interested in a late 2025 build Lightning Flash with only 6,900 miles on it, mine was traded in at a dealer called Auto Connection in Junction City, KY. I know there are some guys looking for this exact trim, so I just thought it might...
And ironically, my own advice came back to bite me.
As amazing as the Lightning is, and as many advantages as it's got, at the end of the day it's just not the ideal truck for my family. We do occasionally like to pull our camper more than 40 miles one-way from home. And the charging...
I think they pushed an update to my truck because I have noticed today that anytime I put the truck in park the parking brake automatically sets even if I'm on perfectly level ground. Previously it would only do this if I was on a steep incline. Now it automatically sets the brake always.
I've followed all the Ram REV and upcoming F-150 EREV and Scout EREV news as closely as possible. I have always thought that EREV is the perfect way to go, because the benefits of EV are still there, but without the Achilles heel of towing range (and range in general) and difficulty of finding...
This is a very unfortunate reality with EVs. There is a fairly decent probability that once it's out of warranty, ALL of the money saved by not needing maintenance and fuel is suddenly wiped away by very expensive repairs. We've seen guys at 150k miles and no issues. We've also seen guys with...
I'll use my own personal situation. Almost everything I need is within a 50 mile radius of my house. Work, stores, church, schools, hospitals, all of it. I've got 6,800 miles on my truck and every single charge has been at home, except the ONE time I charged at an EA station just to try it...
And yet they've (and other companies too) been selling $70k and $90k trucks with gas and diesel engines as fast as they can get them to dealerships.
I wish them the best, but these next few years are a stressful time for all automakers as they try to take advantage of the loose reins of the Fed...
If you're a seasoned veteran at towing, you'll probably find the Trailer Assist to be worthless. In my opinion it actually makes it more difficult to back up the trailer. I *think* I understand what Ford was trying to do with that feature, but holding the steering wheel on the bottom instead...
We all know that the OEs recall AS FEW of a sample as they can possibly get away with, but 99% of the time the issue affects a much larger number. That's just how it works. Look at Toyota...they recalled a small sample of 3.5 engines in Tundras....then had to recall more...and info suggests...
The new midsize truck will be interesting. If they keep it at current Maverick/Ranger price levels I'm anxious to see how many they can sell. If sales continue to be miserable on a sub-$40k BEV truck then that'll pretty much be the nail in the coffin for the Ford EV program I would say...
In terms of maintenance? My advice would be CHECK UNDER YOUR FRUNK periodically. A lot of guys will be shocked at how much dirt and grime accumulates under there on all the hoses, lines, fittings, modules, and coolers. Mine was caked with dirt and grime in less than 5,000 miles, to the point...
Very interesting concept! I applaud ingenuity.
But, for $2,400 I'll stick with my hard tri-fold. My hard tri-fold provides the exact same function and lift-off capability for $700.
Observations noted, and experienced by myself. So can't deny them. However, I'm more of the belief that the astronomical cost to install, power, and maintain these sites (which I have first hand knowledge of) is the sole reason for slow deployment of more EV charge sites.
The range while towing is the deal breaker for me. GM's trucks can TOW farther on a charge than a Lightning can make it with no trailer. Granted, the way GM did it isn't magic....they just stuffed a HUGE battery in there. Repair/replacement of that battery pack will be astronomical in cost in...
