  1. 2024 Platinum - Power Running Boards Retract Too Often

Aww man, I guess I wasn't digging down far enough into the options. Thank you! I set it to extended and did a trial run of my usual passenger door --> close --> driver door and the boards remained out. Thanks again for taking the time to put the picture up!
  2. 2024 Platinum - Power Running Boards Retract Too Often

The only setting for the boards is Auto, Extended, Off (something like that) where you can tell them to always be extracted. Maybe what that RAM had set, or tell them to not respond at all.
  3. 2024 Platinum - Power Running Boards Retract Too Often

Hi all, I am on my third F-150 with power running boards. I had a 2021 Lariat PowerBoost then a 2023 Lariat PowerBoost then the 2024 Lightning. I really like them overall, and when I got my 2021 it had some odd quirks where the running board would retract when you lock the truck but if you...
  4. How does cabin heating work?

I didn't have a pre-Heat Pump Lightning, but so far it's working great. I have been going into the office since Ford did their RTO moves and usually drive in around 5:30AM. I am in Michigan and we have had some 30-40 degree mornings and the truck has been warm and window fog free for the most...
  5. J1772 extension cord

Just giving another thumbs up to Rick's suggestion from A2Z. He mentioned the extension back when I was looking into how to get our existing EVSE cable that we use with the Mach-e in the garage to my F-150 in the driveway. I bought it back then and it has worked flawlessly and safely since.
  6. F-150 Lightning is the best selling EV pickup in the U.S.

Yeah, even works on yourself! We had the Mach-e and PowerBoost F-150 as I was trying to keep an ICE vehicle around. But we kept taking the Mach-e places even though the PowerBoost was meant to be the family/trip vehicle. The smooth and quiet drive was addicting and a few road trips proved out...
  7. Pre-Purchase Guidance and Thinking Points

Hopefully some that tow boats come in with some experience as the comment of getting 80 or 100 miles is not a side effect of towing as the truck itself isn't too bothered by weight. What usually causes range loss, as it does with gas vehicles, is wind resistance. A friend of mine got a Lightning...
  8. Ford CEO expects EV sales to be cut in half after US tax credits end today

80 miles seems a lot lower than I have seen generally reported. Usually people say they get in the 1-1.2 miles/kWh range which should get you 120-130 miles or so. Unless you're doing 80 with a large trailer I guess. I feel like it would still be a two stopper even if things are ideal since as...
  9. Ford CEO expects EV sales to be cut in half after US tax credits end today

I suspect they have a travel trailer, which in another response of mine I said is about the only reason I see an EREV being beneficial. Since they said going to the campground I am guessing that is their use case. Which, as I said in my comment, is totally valid. But the cross section of people...
  10. Tailgate assist opens but only closes sometimes.

I need to experiment more with it. It's one of those things where it happens when we are out somewhere and I had to put something in the tailgate but when I get home I forget or have other stuff to take care of and then I don't think about it again until the next time it happens. I use the...
  11. Tailgate assist opens but only closes sometimes.

Yeah I think I may be running into this and it's a bit annoying. I was going to try and adjust my tonneau. The truck closes the tailgate fine about 80% of the time, but that 20% it gets to the top and then double honks (which I am sure the neighbors love) and lowers back down. I hope it's just...
  12. Ford CEO expects EV sales to be cut in half after US tax credits end today

Why does Ford have to wake up to a reality they already live in? Farley said in the meeting in the article that people are struggling to buy $75k vehicles. The RAMCharger is almost certainly going to be a $75k+ vehicle. With the loss of the $7500 credit, that is going to make the RAMCharger an...
  13. Ford CEO expects EV sales to be cut in half after US tax credits end today

Exactly. We had a PHEV and I cannot fathom someone wanting both limited EV range and a smaller fuel tank on top of doubling the complexity of everything else and still having oil changes and the rest. I liked our PHEV as training wheels to going to an EV, but I can't see going back. The only...
  14. "Low Fuel" Warning

You're absolutely sure you've driven below 30 miles remaining, not 30%, multiple times? Even the manual says the gauge will turn yellow on page 130 for the 2025. "When a low battery condition is reached the gauge is amber. When the battery is depleted the gauge is red." While software bugs...
  15. Ford CEO expects EV sales to be cut in half after US tax credits end today

What happens after the credits end is entirely up to people like Farley and claiming defeat so soon should be seen as not doing what is in the best interest of the shareholders if he chooses to do nothing about it. But that said, I don't think the issue has to be that dire. The Mach-e and F-150...
  16. Battery Preconditioning how does it work?

I don't know that I have heard of more frequent charging being harmful on its own. Most likely what is being left off that statement is that small batteries have a small thermal mass and charging produces a good amount of heat. Heat is doing most of the harm (if it's fairly high temps). So...
  17. Flash Disqualified from Tax credit

This is the incentive to offset EFC16728, not the notice itself. But in either case there may be an option if the dealer reads the notice I mentioned.
  18. Flash Disqualified from Tax credit

If the FMC official account won't give too many specifics I won't either, but I think it is fine to say, if your dealership is unsure what the reason is, have them look up EFC16728 on FMCDealer. It explains the issue and potential resolution to the certain Lightnings tax credit situation.
  19. Small adjustment to increase lightning sales: cool and heat the frunk

As much as I love using the frunk for groceries, I don't think climate controlling it is the answer. It would almost certainly have to shrink for the extra ducting and controls, and its volume is enough that heating and cooling it would take time and no small amount of energy over a longer trip...
  20. Ford BlueOval SK battery plant (Kentucky) production begins. Will provide batteries for Lightning

That may even be the reason for the change. Start the 123 kWh process battery and keep the 131 around to basically just be a placeholder for the upper trims knowing that the next gen Lightning will have the 123 as the "SR" and possibly a 160kWh as the "ER". I don't see them going 200kWh like GM...
