Technology deep-dives (eg. battery tech, power delivery, regen logic, and braking behavior)
YES!

No.
Even if you're home, the result would likely be the same or similar. You not going to be able to move it and battery fires don't go out as soon as the fire department arrives.
I did put a smoke detector directly above it in the garage - maybe buy a little time to save people and things...
I go with option 1 but modified:
1) Better Different battery technology on Lightnings as compared to Mach-Es?
After experiencing two failed modules, not sure the Lightning tech is better, just different. Son who lives with us has a Mach-E. Worse SOH, fewer miles, but lives outdoors while my...
Two good points. I will add to my answer above that the focus should be on the breaker that is tripping but add the wiring and terminations between that breaker and the fscp one. May have a high impedance "short" in the circuit that is actually causing high amps at that breaker. Maybe due to...
They are both correct depending on the question you are asking. To figure overall ownership cost, I use the kWh amount the EVSE registered and miles driven. Between the wall and battery, I typically see about 7-10% loss through EVSE cable and on-board charger AC-DC conversion.
However when I'm...
If I’m reading this right, the only pic is of the breaker that is not tripping. But it has no reason to trip as he has only been using 80A, and then later, 64 amps. Instead some other breaker at the meter is tripping. And there’s no pic of that one.
Would think the question should be why the...
Nice write-up and having just also driven a loaner XLT for a week, I was glad to be back in my Lightning.
Regarding the side mirrors, that feature became available in 2024 for Lightning (and likely ICE) but you can enable it for your '23 with FORScan. However they stay on until you switch cams...
Please update your Account Details to include the year of your truck. Seems like in 2024 they stopped printing cards with the keycode. But there is a thread here that shows how to recover the master code without going to the dealer.
I can kinda answer this question. After both module replacements I noticed a slightly elevated module variation (0.8%) immediately afterwards that settled and stayed lower when measured later. I don't have the exact time frame since I didn't measure regularly, but there is a definite decrease...
Looks to be one of the many China suppliers that has cloned the part. Kinda like the cheaper rotary shifter knockoffs and hundreds of other parts you'll find on eBay, AliExpress, etc.
@chl, I have bought a 3-day subscription to PTS a few times. Gives you access to all the FDRS service logs from the dealer. Can see when they tested something, updated a module, did a battery test, etc, and the results of each step. You also get access to the WSM for all vehicles. I've saved off...
With that variation I fear it will require a new module. Both times I needed a module replaced, I had a high variation. I have documented it here. The dealer needs to know about the SSM that is mentioned in that thread since yours is not throwing a relevant DTC.
Since you have an OBD dongle...
Thanks for clarifying. The manual kept calling B and C inverter controllers (ISC) and I wrongly assumed ProPower. But yes the motors I believe are AC and so there would need to be an inverter that converts the DC to drive them.
