Quick update. My brakes failed again but I got a new error message so I took it another dealer. He ran the usual checks but this time said there is a software update in March that is supposed to fix the issue. Let’s hope it works.
Update.
An amazing dealer in Iowa City replaced my brake module. The is the third time Deery Brothers has done all they could to help with various warrantee issues with this truck.
Unfortunately this didn’t work. The brakes failed today in Idaho. Like in the past we pulled over at a truck...
We’ve had more experience now and we can reboot the truck by tuning it off and sitting in the truck until the screens all turn off and we hear a kind of mechanical clunk that lets us know the truck is completely off. I’ve tried it in temps as cold as 37 yesterday in Smoky Mountain National...
Another update. We’ve been driving across America for 7 weeks now towing the airstream so I have had several opportunities to try a variety of approaches to fix the problem.
Just today the brakes failed twice, one of them coming out of Great Smoky Mountain National Park. If you know New...
I hear ya brother. It sure makes me think twice before considering a fully electric vehicle from Ford. If they can’t make a safe hybrid what makes anyone think they can tackle even more technology. I just hope they get this solved before anyone is hurt.
Update.
We did try another approach yesterday when we lost brakes in Maine. We pulled over, turned off the car and just sat in the car until all of the screens went dark. It took 10 minutes for the truck to turn off fully. And it worked. When we started the truck up again the brakes were...
I’ve been on the road for four weeks now towing the 21 Airstream and now have lots of practice with the issue. I’m still not sure what is causing the failure, but I have found a reliable fix. When ever the brakes randomly fail I pull over and turn off the truck and lock it. I go away from...
We are on an 8 week trip towing the airstream and so have had lots of time to think about our shared problem. And while I still don’t know why the brakes randomly stop working, I have found a way to fix it that has worked three or four times now. When I find my brakes have stopped I pull over...
Update on the braking issue.
I took the trailer to the airstream dealer and they towed the trailer with their truck and the brakes worked fine. I tried my f150 Powerboost again and the brakes worked fine for an hour or so.
After a couple of hours I began to have the "No Tailer" issue...
I’m beginning to think the problem may be with the trailer and not the truck. I tried towing a different trailer that I have and had no brake problems. Many of us have both a 2021 F150 Powerboost and an Airstream trailer. My trailer is now at the Airstream dealer in Idaho and my truck is at...
I have another puzzling wrinkle. I tried using my 2021 Powerboost to tow my Big Tex flatbed trailer. I had no problems with the brakes, but when I tow my 27 foot airstream I have problems. The wiring of the 7 pin plug is the same for all three. Has anyone else tried towing different trailers...
I am having by same issue. The Ford dealer used a testing tool and found that the e brake pin on the 7 pin delays sending a signal to the brakes for several seconds. And it happens very consistently. I also tried the conductive grease but I think the real problem is I’m the programming and...
I bought a 7 pin testing unit at auto zone to check it out before I went to the dealer. When the brake pedal is depressed there is a weak flickering of light for the e brake pin for a few seconds and then the light displays at full power. The dealer had a similar result but on a more...
The electric brake signal from my 2021 power boost to my camper trailer only works sometimes. So while I’m trying to brake I often must rely on just the truck brakes. The brakes were fully tested at the airstream dealer and they check out just find. The Ford dealer did a quick test on the 7...
