Yes, it does it on a grade. My Explorer does it regardless of the grade.

It appears to be only for the current key cycle. I wish that this was an option to always engage the parking brake when putting into Park.

The lowered version looks like what I was supposed to receive from Ford. All of the renderings when ordering looked nearly identical to the lowered version. It's what I wanted.
