  1. First Long Trip - ABRP ? or Just Google Maps and a prayer?

I default to Google Maps for navigational planning and I do take the charging suggestions to heart...but I still relay on Plugshare to double check or to find alternates if I do not like the Google suggestions Are you going to drive your lightning on the beach? Ive been to OBX a few times with...
  2. Behind The Scenes: Ford Fast Charging Adapter

I am late to the thread @Ford Motor Company but as a first-time Ford owner I am mighty impressed with several things: 1) The commitment to EV owners with the free adaptor 2) Keeping your promise with the $39,999 Lightning (even if production was limited) when other OEMs did not deliver their...
  3. Road trip to Moab and Canyonlands National Park, including some light offroading

I drove this trail in my rental 4runner last summer.....you made the right call. I would not even take my Lightning with level kit and 35s on this trail. It just got tougher and tougher. Plus, we saw a couple in their 2nd gen Ram that slid off the trail into soft sand and were stuck waiting for...
  4. 285 75 18 Nitto A/T tires on my 2022 Lariat ER

I do run these in the summer but in the winter (when I dont do much offroading) I run the stockers instead.
  5. Boat Launches

I barely got up to the bumper and in fresh water but no issues for what that is worth.
  6. The lightning is awesome, except the embarrassingly bad infotainment system.

Way faster bootup on the Tesla, way faster on-screen reactions based on inputs, better route planning and navigation, way easier to find/view charging locations on Tesla. I LOVE my Lightning, don't get me wrong. Its the best vehicle I have ever owned. Just pointing out some shortcomings in...
  7. The lightning is awesome, except the embarrassingly bad infotainment system.

Would be a fun game to play trying to find all the GM references in the "Honda" interface. For example if you disable TC/SC, I heard it displays "Stabiltrak Disabled" or similar.
  8. The lightning is awesome, except the embarrassingly bad infotainment system.

As a Tesla and Lightning owner, I generally agree with you. My biggest peeves (but I still LOVE the truck) are: 1) The boot up time is my #1 annoyance 2) The lag when I want to do something like adjust the HVAC or heated seat, etc. You click the button and wait a full second or more for it to...
  9. Overlanding on longest uninterrupted dirt road in the lower 48

This sounds awesome. Bad roads (instead of actual offroading) is my favorite. Need some pics of your Lightning on some mountain roads one day!
  10. How to navigate to Tesla Chargers?

In case you are curious, I think the Tesla app map defaults to 0 degrees latitude and 0 degrees longitude, which is western Africa, as you point out. Then it gets your location from your phone and usually zooms to your area.
  11. Looking to buy an used 2023 Lariat, can be a sign of problems ?

Some dealers will pull the service records for you so it is worth asking to see what it was in for. Even if that particular dealer (who has a vested interest in perhaps protecting their sale position) may not share the records, some other dealer may provide you the records.
  12. Canopy 3rd brake light wiring

This is what the wire looks like from the drivers side inner fender (but NOT the location in the picture, it just has the same end piece and similar gauge) Also, ARE has a guide that works on a Lightning. I know this because this is what Jasper used to hook it up for me.
  13. Canopy 3rd brake light wiring

I just had this done by Jasper Camper Sales in Michigan. https://www.facebook.com/jaspercampersales/ Maybe if you ask nice or send him some money he will help guide you through it. From what I saw and was able to see, you gotta remove the front drivers side fender liner next to the...
  14. Overlanding on longest uninterrupted dirt road in the lower 48

I am VERY impressed with both this trip and your Pacific Coast Highway trip. This Macgruder trip, especially, wows me! I thought I was the "EVs can do it offroad too" torchbearer but you have me beat by a lot. Very very well done!!

  17. Northern Washington to Big Sur CA and Back - 3100mi Trip Report in 2023 SR XLT w/Camper

This trip looks incredible and thank you for sharing. I am planning a trip like this and update my plans weekly or so. Would you be willing to share all or some of the sites you stopped at to camp (whether a campground or just the spot you parked) along the way?
  18. Is Anybody Happy With Their Lightning?

After a year of ownership, I can report I am absolutely happy with my 2022 Lariat ER, yes. It is not perfect but 95% perfect isnt bad. I love this truck and it is the best vehicle I have ever owned. If it got totalled/stolen I would 100% buy another one since nothing else has what it has in the...
  19. Found a Lightning fire department truck

I bet you are right on West Allis. Very nearby so makes sense with what you found.
  20. Anyone know why Ford used the tailgate lights for backup lights?

    Interesting idea, yeah, perhaps
