There was a post during flood in the past where a guy showed a video of him fording water up to his bumper and he reported no adverse effects. I've seen others post what Ford's official guidance is, but don't recall specifics. You'll be mostly fine until you aren't.
Studies show that coasting to a stop will net you a farther distance after acceleration or going down a hill than regenerating power (slowing down via the motor) and then using that power to accelerate again on flat or uphill terrain. That means that your driving behavior determines the most...
Here's an article citing multiple studies that show two things.
1. If it's not inconvenient, keep your batter roughly between 20% and 80% state of charge.
2. Charging a little bit more often in between small discharges leads to improved battery life than multiple small discharges followed...
I just placed an order. Used the promo code SADDLEUP23 to get a 20% discount and then used Ford points to pay the rest. Waiting for my second email to tell me that it's backordered. Our freezing rain doesn't seem to occur until around February, so I can wait. Maybe this influx of orders will...
If you get to choose the highest mileage EV with 3 battery replacements and extrapolate the performance to all EVs, then it's only fair that ICE owners get to do the same. https://www.everlance.com/blog/10-highest-mileage-vehicles
Counting via memory, I've seen at least 10 unique lightnings in the greater Austin, TX area in the last year. I always try to wave and get their attention with mixed results.
I used this: https://www.amazon.com/Cordless-LIVOWALNY-Soldering-122%E2%84%89-1022%E2%84%89-Temperature/dp/B0BVB9XBBM/?th=1
It got a lot worse than this picture.
I'm glad I have a big battery and it's regularly between 40% and 70% SOC. I'd be too lazy on most days to head to the 10th floor of the parking structure to move it if it were to fill up. As it is, getting 3-6kw charge rate means I can sit there all day sipping electrons without filling up...
Did you use it with your Mach-E because this software/feature set was first release on those cars or do you have the first version on your truck? The article read like it's yet-to-be-released.
The first sequence of steps sound like it will give me a list of chargers after I enter some filtering criteria. Then it uses Ford's navigation software to show me how to get to the charge station I select. I simplified that to "it sends me."
The BlueOval Charge Network you mention is a...
I wonder what database it uses to identify potential charge stations. I'm intrigued and will give it a try, but it'll only take a couple of times where it sends me to non-functional chargers before I go back to manually searching for one on my phone with plugshare.
It's a filthy truck. The hotrod guys are probably looking for corvettes and Porsches. If they do drive it like they stole it, then they're treating it the same way I do. At the end of the day, it's just a vehicle to me that I love driving. I have many bigger problems in my life to stress...
I've had valet at higher end hotels ask me if I wanted them to plug my truck in when I checked the vehicle. If you're okay with spending more money, you might consider that option as well. Calling ahead might even have a higher efficacy in a situation like that.
Do you have free charging at work? I charge at a 3-6kwh rate for free (technically $4 per month) at work most days. So my realized monthly cost went down significantly when I went from charging at home every 5 days to charging at home 1-2 times per month.
