It all depends on the dealer and your relationship with them. Mine handed me the keys and let me take it for a 30 minute drive without any questions asked. I have purchased from him and he knew I was coming ahead of time so that helped.
I had a similar issue with my Tesla mobile charger at first. It turned out to be a ground issue on my 240v outlet. My father in law is an electrician and said grounds can be sensitive. He fixed it for me luckily.
Great point on the lack of competition right now. I’m hoping for the best. Even a required “Mid” option package would be a good step. Hard to convince the wife why my ~$60k truck needs to be nearly $80k :)
