A standard jump starter isn't going to work. You need something that can actually supply steady power. Schumacher INC100 and Clore PL6100 (requires 20 amp plug or 20-15 adapter) are the big two. Both are 100 amp. I've been using a Powermax PMBC-75 which is a bit cheaper for FDRS and the IPC mod. If you're willing to make your own cables you can get it for quite a bit cheaper.
I was thinking about getting the server PSU that @Aminorjourney linked to in her video.

That's another option and quite a bit cheaper. Just make sure you have a good set of cables. :cwl:

Yeah lol. My current ones did NOT come with us from England, although they are a few years old. I suspect I might need to get better ones as I’m thinking they will likely be 4 AWG.

Are this the correct points to connect the power supply to? https://www.f150lightningforum.com/forum/threads/jumping-12-volt-battery.16066/post-325705

Also, any other new features / functionality in the 2024 IPC software that we wouldn't have in the 2023, other than the charge speed indicator and the bluecruise lane change animation?
Yes, correct place - but you do need good quality cables. As demonstrated by yours truly ;)

AND DON'T I KNOW IT! Oh I still have nightmares about those bright orange rust balls.

For what it's worth, I just went to my local auto parts store and got some 2-gauge cables. Most auto parts stores have them. TLDR, if they're designed for jump-starting a big old truck, you'll be okay :)

I'm using #8 connected to my server PSU but they are only 3 feet long with the PSU sitting in the frunk. That's keeps the voltage drop to a reasonable level. You can use an online voltage drop calculator for say 50-75 amps. I'd stay away from 15-20 foot cables - they will need to be thicker and thus more expensive.

I also wire to the BMS and positive terminal with ring connectors and 6mm nuts instead of clamps. See pic I made here.

So I just found this thread, thanks to Transport Evolved, and this is something I've wanted for a long time for my 23 XLT XR Lightning. Thanks to this tread and TE I was able to get the IPC updated and loaded the 2024 As Built file loaded successfully. Everything looks great and seems to function as expected with one minor exception the charge rate shows 0 kW. I've attached a few pictures showing that both AC and DC charging doesn't make any difference, using Car Scanner you can see the vehicle knows it's charging and I've attached the as built setting after loading the AB file.
Any idea what setting needs to be changed for the XLT? Thanks for any help on this.

What was your last update to the truck. This is what I was told on my 22 XLT ER when I did this. Everything worked fine as I had just updated everything via FDRS.
"The rest of the modules have to be up to date. The SOBDM a-c, PCM, BECM.
If they aren't the rate will not display"

Yeah these updates require the BECM, SOBDM, at min be updated.

When I helped the first person do this they had to do the updates for it to work.. they had the same issue.

Once the modules were updated it worked.

Most of those are updated in groups though and cant be updated independently.

Is there a way to tell the current versions of BECM, SOBDM etc?

Thanks for the info. I’ll have to see if I can get the version info later today. I didn’t think I was far behind but it’s possible.
