A Kill-O-Watt or similar power meter could out rule any unwarranted load from the older cooler. But I suspect like others it could be a re-calculation of SOC based on temperature changes experienced by the BMS, plus energy to keep the battery in its happy zone.

That's correct. Apparently, you can adjust the target SOC using FDFS to around 90% from the default on some models that for some reason are pre-set at around 80%. I was reading that this can cause result in SOC fluctuations up to 98% though, so not sure if I want to try changing the default SOC...

Jeez, reading this thread is making me realize I could have learned the hard way as well. I updated a couple of modules using FDRS without any power supply on the battery. They were the modules related to a frunk partially opening issue. I think maybe they were the FHCM and BCM modules.

If you're genuinely concerned, you could get yourself a nice free network protocol analyzer like Wireshark and analyze the packets going to and from that IP - that would tell you what it's communicating with and possibly why.
