I purchased a SuperTap from TeslaTap and then sold the Ford one once I received it.
The SuperTap seemed to be better quality than the Ford product made in China.

Take a look at the SuperTap from builders of the original TeslaTap.
They were a little late bringing them to market, but they made sure that the product was 100% before releasing at SEMA last year.
They are out of Goleta California in the US and ship to Canada all of the time.
As far as I...
I know for a fact that final assembly of the SuperTap's is done in the US.
They do not try and fool anyone, they state "most of the assembly is done overseas" to save costs.
I have been to their facility in Goleta, California.
I personally saw the CNC mills and lathes making parts for the...

What makes you think that the adapter that Rivian is selling is made in the US?
They are actually made in China for Tesla by (withheld) and then sold to Rivian.
The only adapter I know of in the US is the SuperTap from TeslaTap.
The dealers during their training were shown the TeslaTap MINI and were informed where to purchase them for their customers or to have their customers order them directly at https://www.umc-j1772.com
If you received a NACS to J1772 adapter for Level 1/2 charging from Ford, it was probably a TeslaTap.
Ford dealers have been purchasing them from TeslaTap since 2021 for their customers before the Superchargers were available to Non-Tesla manufacturers.
But, I am going to guess that you were...
I have used many different adapters.
In my opinion the fact that the TeslaTap is machined out of a solid billet of Delrin rather than molded plastic and that the bus bars inside are solid rather than crimped connectors and wire.
And their customer service is excellent if you have any questions.

There is also a link right on the front page of the TeslaTap page to the SuperTap page.
I had the same problem with the page being not secured. It was because I was following a link from a you-tuber that was to an unsecure address.
Why would anybody not spend a little more and get the highest quality "US BUILT" Level 1/2 adapter.
ALL adapters EXCEPT real TeslaTap's are made in China. (Including Lectron and A2Z)

You mentioned earlier that the panels were about enough to power the house without the truck.
Since you are already using the power from the solar to power the house, when you are charging the truck it needs to pull it from the utility.
Yes, I have had different NCAS adapters and the Supertap appears to be the best one.
The anodized aluminum rather than the plastic locks are very robust.
The best part is that you can actually call them, and they will answer the phone.
