I am highly concerned now about insurance rates and spare parts. Ford says they will support the Lightning for the following 10 years. What happens if my tail light goes out 5 years down the road? Is my insurance going to total it because parts simply do not exist? Am I holding a bag of bricks here?
This still leads to oil changes, maintenance, etc that those of us got away from with the Lightning. I guess my next EV will be a Rivian if I ever decide to get rid of my Lightning. So sad to hear our beloved fully electric F150 is done.
If Ford really pushed marketing correctly, put butt in seats and educated customers around charging, range, etc, the Lighting would be neck to neck with ICE sales.
Apprentice and training programs are the way to go. I got my aircraft maintenance license in high school, payed $0 for it.
I could see your nephew making what he does working for BMW. Im sure he probably works extra hours or hustles labor to make it work. But 120K at Ford? Thats hard to believe.
Thats marketing lingo to get people in the door. I really dont think dealer techs are making $120K. Im sure Ford constantly underquotes labor hours. Ive had friends move on from dealer to heavy equipment. Much better hourly rate, union and no constant squeeze between the OEM, dealer management...
I still wish Ford would bring back the route planning and pushing from your phone. I could plan from my bed the night before and push the route to the truck when it was ready. That plus this update would be killer.
Also, Brian if your’re reading this, zone lighting back on the Ford app would be...
Wow, this seems to be a thing with 2025s. This would drive me nuts. I have very sensitive hearing myself. I can hear the blue cruise driver monitoring camera frequency even when driving down the road 🤪
Its in the 15-25 kHz range and its just ever so annoying.
Thought I would revive this thread. At 45K, my OEM Hankooks were down to around 4/32”. I could have honestly squeezed out another 6-8K miles out of them if it were city driving BUT, when on the highway they kinda feel like driving on ice if its raining.
The vanity in me wanted wither the...
You know what I honestly would really like to see? Have Ford host a semi-annual (or atleast annual) seminar at Rouge. The first half day could be dedicated to engineers and product support specialists from both the MME and Lightning program. Include speakers from these programs, a fireside chat...
Sometime the forward motor fails to come online, you can see this in your power distribution page. However, failing to charge usually indicates a faulty module. Im sorry to hear that, I would make an appointment to bring it in.
As a mechanic (disclaimer: I suck with cars but great with planes 🙃)I would highly advise against this. The rubber seal conditioner is a temporary fix that can make the condition worse. I suggest performing this TSB with Krytox twice a year as, arguably, the only preventative maintenance item...
