I'm aware, but even though the Lightning is supposed to ask you about various trailer details to re-rate the available range, it failed to do that here, re-rating itself at 160 miles, and barely making over half of even that range.
I will be looking for a Powerboost hybrid F-150. It's not much...
It does take more energy to tow of course, but de-rating a 320 mile range to a hair over one quarter capacity is terrible.
And yeah, I did ask about a water tank in the frunk. It was just a thought exercise for me, and even then (before TFL released this video), I had suspicions that the towing...
TFL did a video to see how far that a Lightning with an extended range (320 mile) battery could tow a 6,000 pound trailer, which is not an unreasonable use of a half-ton pickup truck.
Sadly, they only made it a whopping 85.9 miles.
Until battery technology greatly improves, I will have to skip...
Video starts, with the F-150 Lightning sitting there all pretty, frunk closed.
4 long beeps are heard, followed by the sound of blows on a truck body panel and a muffled shout of "Help!".
Since the Pro trim model with the extended range battery (which Car & Driver says rings in at $51,769 before extras) is otherwise unavailable to retail customers, has anyone considered actually setting up some kind of group buy?
I'm sure there's got to be a legal way to protect everyone, maybe...
Yeah, I've accounted for the ~47 gallon (minus tank weight) 400 pound limit in my concept, and that's plenty of water for my use.
Nothing high pressure either.
Thanks! As I don't have a Lightning yet, I wasn't sure if its design was far enough from a combustion F-150 that it might not be possible to run a water line through the area.
Funny that you should mention that, as I am a bidet user as well. In addition to extra cleanliness over dry paper, all the resources (such as water, fuel, etc) that go into making toilet paper, bleaching it, trucking it all over the country are saved when a person just directly uses the water...
Nope, just haven't fleshed out the idea beyond a concept very much.
Also, the 400 pound weight limit on the frunk would limit its useful water capacity to no more than about 44 to 46 gallons, assuming that a suitably light tank could be sourced.
Can't do a mobile meth lab, as I do not look...
I'm not sure of any of that yet, it's just a concept.
No temperature concerns, and no particular flow rate in mind yet.
I just need to know if the design of the Lightning (vs. a combustion F-150, if it had a frunk) would make such a thing unworkable.
Because the whole point of owning something is to set it up for your individual use case... like every other truck mod out there, of which the Lightning is not unique?
Please move this thread if there is a more appropriate sub-forum. None that I saw quite fit.
For weight balance and other reasons, I'm wondering if it's possible to place a water tank in the frunk and plumb it so that it comes out at a point accessible to the inside of the bed?
I know that the...
I agree. So many things in life are affected by politics, and avoiding all mention of politics means that certain things - like EV charging at a state level - would have to be avoided, and that hurts us all.
