The rotary headlight switch on our trucks has been known to go bad. Mine glitches every once in awhile. I did have it turn the headlights on (change itself from "auto" to "on") by itself, but I think I was driving at the time.
Take a look at the headlight switch. It has LEDs to indicate...
If you want owners to plug them in they need an incentive to do so. There's little incentive with plug in hybrids.
I'm curious how Ford will execute the Lightning EREV. For the gas engine to provide enough generating power for full performance it will need to be as big as an engine in an ICE...
This is my understanding too, if low 12v is the problem you'll have some sort of failure notification. If there's no sign your truck is even trying to receive an update then it's not a 12v problem.
I'm not aware of any update that would affect your use of a weight on the steering wheel. The truck just thinks it's your hand anyway. I think you'll be ok updating.
As a lawyer I would have done the same thing. When I read that he had the Ohmmu battery I thought to myself that maybe it's not a good idea to post about the situation publicly. There's a nonzero chance insurance will deny the claim due to the owner making an unapproved and unsafe (in their...
I suspect we will eventually see Chinese vehicles sold in the US. Chinese automakers will end up too big and powerful to keep out forever.
But I'm really speaking more about worldwide competition. Ford will not be able to compete in markets with Chinese EVs. I think their only shot is to...
I just don't know how Ford can realistically compete with the Chinese. The Chinese government subsidizes EV production, they have access to battery minerals, and their labor is far less expensive. Ford is at a huge disadvantage. How can they cut costs so drastically to make up for that?
I was told that when the tech puts needed parts/service in the computer, it cross-checks a database of covered parts and the warranty coverage in effect. So I think it's all automated and no one actively decides if it's covered.
My point is that not every auxiliary component is covered under a powertrain or battery warranty. It's not an integral part of the battery or a motor. Like with my Infiniti, the radiator fan is necessary for engine cooling but it wasn't part of the engine itself and thus not covered under the...
I wouldn't expect every part necessary to make the truck drive to be included in a powertrain/battery warranty. You gotta have a good 12v battery but it's not covered. Same thing with various other parts like the ignition switch, etc.
I had an Infiniti and the radiator fan quit. Powertrain...
I'd like to know the rest of the story. It sounds like a dealer tore the truck apart, couldn't figure out what was wrong with it, and it ended up getting bought back and sent to another dealer for repair.
A family member just had the PTC heater fail in his Mach-E. It was intermittent, sometimes it would heat and sometimes it would not. The only symptom was loss of cabin heat. No warnings on the dash. The dealer did a scan and there were lots of trouble codes thrown. The part was on backorder...
Update: I turned off Destination Suggestions but a few days ago navigation guidance started by itself when I turned the truck on. I noticed that Destination Suggestions had turned itself back on.
The problem now is that I will turn suggestions off but it turns itself back on every time I...
