In Early 2023, there was a fire in a transfer yard that damaged / consumed several trucks. This delayed my 23 XLT SR by about 3 weeks. RCFA determined an installation issue on the HVB.
More plastic parts in the front could be why the flames look higher in front section. I hope the battery coolant isn't flammable - it has a circuit loop to the front grille. Hopefully, the Ford account and OP are able to share cause.
Glad no injuries and sorry about the loss. Looking at the photos of road conditions - snow and ice. Were the roads treated with salt? Possible conductivity issue? Hope your insurance coverage is sufficient for replacement.
Blue Mule has a new home - I don't know where. Whoever bought it, I wish you good times in it. Evidently, someone purchased Blue Mule just before the snow/ice fell in Memphis.
Followup - I traded Blue Mule in on a Hyundai Tucson Hybrid. If you're looking to pick up a 23 XLT SR, you can get a decent deal on it from Wolfchase Hyundai in Memphis, TN. I threw in the Ford adaptor for Tesla DCFC and my wall mount Grizzl-E 40 amp L2 EVSE. My days of driving full sized...
Mid 1960's - my father drove a '62 Cadillac Sedan deVille with a 25 gallon tank - used to fill it up from near empty with $2. Premium was $0.10 - $0.15 / gallon.
I will also be selling / trading in my 23 XLT as it no longer meets my needs. Since I retired, I no longer commute 30 miles / day and as I age, it is harder to get into and out of the truck and I don't haul as much stuff either. I wish someone had a small BEV or PHEV pickup, but the best I can...
My usage is a bit complicated -
10,318 miles and $598.99 for 2025
Average cost per mile is $0.0581.
Here's my breakdown:
Average 1.97 mi/kW
5,327 kW total
367 kW DCFC @ average $0.486 / kW =
$178.36 (GM network $0.60, Tesla
network @ $0.46...
I looked back in my message tracker (thanks Taxman) and see that GoodSam has the tracking spreadsheet. My information is on line 781 of the spreadsheet. If you find a posting by GoodSam, you'll find a link in his posts that link to the spreadsheet.
I forget which member of the forum has a tracking spreadsheet for module replacement, my work was initiated in June and took about 7 weeks from diagnosis through replacement. I drove Blue Mule for 4+ weeks with the diminished charge level (67%) and the dealership worked on it for 2+ weeks...
I had a module (#2) replaced and have not experienced any charging issues like you describe. My dealer did the balance and charged my battery (L2) to 100% before delivering it back to me. My routine is to L2 charge (32 amp) to 85% and to 80% when I use DCFC. Good luck and hope it is resolved...
I voted Other because the Lightning doesn't fill my needs going forward. I've had it for nearly 3 years (after an MMe for a year) and have enjoyed the overall experience. Now that I've retired and don't commute 30 miles / day, I will not get the same utility from it. I experienced a battery...
