I think you missed my point, it’s not that these point can not be valid, but the term “suck” is just throwing the whole argument out the window.
Also as someone who lives in Alberta, I find that EVs do not suck at all in the cold. They are actually fantastic, I’d take an EV over a ICE vehicle...
That is the most absurd and comical use of the word “suck” that I have seen by someone who even remotely seems to know kind of what they are talking about. With the level of using the word “suck” you could easily say diesels suck in the cold because they don’t warm up. Or ICE vehicles suck in...
That’s a completely fair point and I agree. I’d have troubles buying last years model even at a large discount if the model just went through a refresh.
yes, but they still had to dives
but….
let’s just not pretend that the tax savings come anywhere close to the payout if those original investments played out as envisioned.
3/4 ton is also where you are going to impress fleet customers with reduced maintenance if you can achieve it and reduced operating costs if you can grantee them their staff a) will never run out of range, b) they start every day with a “free” 131 kWh or whatever it is.
I also said this before...
Form factor, noise and size are definitely the issue. If you think of modern engines, the complexity of the emissions systems add a lot to the overall NVH targets they are able to hit. Shoving all that in to a small form factor isn’t cheap. I think instead of putting it behind the window, it...
So they thought of it, hopefully they actually do go through with it. Because that is undoubtedly the answer to keep costs down.
@Ford Motor Company hear me out. You take whatever battery size you would feel comfortable with on an erev. Let’s say 70kwh. That will have no problem getting you...
I’ve been saying that this should be the solution for a while now. It makes no sense to make it a permanent fixture. Especially as price and weight are the enemies of EVs. The range extender should be an add on option. And be easily serviceable (not physically part of the vehicle).
