Maybe a plastic water tank would work. You can buy 100 gallon plastic water tank from Home Depot and strap it down to the bed. Then you could dump the water wherever you needed the extra payload or when you didn’t care about the smoother ride, like when your wife is not in the truck.

My Lightning has really been working well for me. I even pull a travel trailer routinely between Texas and Colorado. I have to stop and charge about every 100 miles pulling the travel trailer but access to Tesla superchargers has made this practical for my trips.

So many of these posts appear to indicate that the Lightning is going to be abandoned by Ford, I think that’s far from the case.
