That doesn't mean those sales weren't taken from Ford. I'm a perfect case of this, as I got out of my Lightning and into a Sierra EV primarily for range; and others who participate in the Silverado EV forum have said the same. I found 440mi of range with super fast charging speeds to be ideal...
WRONG:
1. RANGE - Ultimately, range did me in and was the primary reason I traded it. Now that I have a Sierra EV with 440mi range and super fast charging speeds, I have found this is the sweet spot for a pickup. I would never buy an EV truck with less than ~400 mi of range having experienced...
I'd like to think so (overestimating). I'm giving the Ford engineers some benefit of the doubt, since I doubt they'd create a replacement product that sounds objectively worse in most ways than what is being replaced. That is, unless this is being driven by exec's who don't have a lot of hands...
All of this just sounds terrible. Whether it’s a V6 Pentastar, or a 2.7 Turbo, who wants this? Those are power plants that already power full sized pickup trucks, and require all of the regular maintenance, expenses, inconveniences of an ICE vehicle. Then throw in the battery and all of its...
There’s a lot of blame being thrown around for Ford’s EV stumble—oil companies, the administration, capitalism, Ford itself. From my experience owning both a Lightning and a Sierra EV, and talking with people across the country, the reality feels more mixed: it’s on both Ford and consumers...
I've always wondered the same regarding licensing from Tesla. There's so much ingrained bloat, bureaucracy, and associated costs with legacy Ford/GM/Stellantis that I don't see how these companies can match or leapfrog Tesla/Rivian or the Chinese in developing the modern vehicle experience...
ICE version does, not sure about the Lightning. Unless you want to replace the whole dash, no retrofit that I know of. The HUD device is built into the dash in front of the steering wheel.
Agree the RST interior could be better. I was on the fence with it. However when I found my Sierra deal, it was a no brainer as it’s a much nicer place to be. Have to admit I’ve used the mid-gate more than I thought I would as a DIY’er, but I still prefer the closed cabin and lift up seats or...
Many long trips in both. Slower speeds the LER was slightly more efficient, at higher speeds the Sierra does way better. Speed and weather don’t dramatically impact the Sierra like it does the Lightning. I’d never exceed the speed limit on longer trips in my Lightning. In the Sierra I’m cruising...
As a comparison. In my LER, I never used the native maps because of its limitations; always used CarPlay. In my Sierra EV that has no CarPlay and runs Android Auto. I still prefer CarPlay, but I'm okay with Android Auto enough that I don't immediately resort to my phone like I would have in the...
I agree. The Sierra EV did not provide an option for the mid-gate. I would not have paid more for it, and even as a free option I'd probably have chosen fold up seats. If anything for noise reduction.
If anything, this experience has re-iterated to me that CarPlay should not die off. OEM's...
This was a huge gripe of mine when I had the car. Honestly, all EV's just need a precondition button. At some point it will be easier for phone maps to guide the driver, and the driver should be able to activate preconditioning as needed. As the OP found, I gave up on the native OEM apps long ago.
