I am largely against the idea of an EREV. It may push me to buy a truck from someone besides Ford, and I have only had Ford vehicles in my garage since I moved out on my own. I don't want oil changes or gas station stops, and my experience with a PHEV has been that it's the worst of both worlds...
I don't get how so much of this thread was devoted to whether or not you know of the presenter. As was noted, unless you watch some content how are you ever introduced to new things? Such a wild way to live. I am not vouching for this person or anything, but just dismissing anything because it's...
2014 (I think? Suddenly blanking on it) C-Max Energi
2017 Focus Electric
2021 F-150 PowerBoost
2023 F-150 PowerBoost
2022 Mach-e Premium
2025 Mach-e Premium + 2024 F-150 Lightning Platinum
The C-Max Energi and PowerBoost trucks introduced us enough to electric to realize we were stressing so...
Yeah I have love my Platinum. I had two PowerBoosts before it and thought they were the peak of what the F-150 could be since it had ProPower, was quick, and was just the best all-around package I felt for mileage, power, and capability. A Raptor might be "cooler", but its main focus is on high...
Not sure I understand the "for an off-road focused vehicle" part. Who is traveling 100+ miles off-road regularly where this would come up? Most off-roading is low speed and following a trail that is maybe a loop of 20 miles or so.
Obviously not the case if overlanding, but this seems a bit...
Yeah, as usual that was just a run on of poorly informed nonsense. Ford and others are losing money on their EV side of the business, but it's not because EVs aren't or can't be profitable. Ford has about 5 plants being either built completely new or retooled for EV construction. That is all...
Yeah it seems like a lot of the source for this is someone at a dealership and they are just running with it because negative EV news gets clicks.
That said, Farley has made no secret that while he sees that EVs are needed and essential, even if it's a growing pain right now for the market...
Yeah, I hit mine with a silicone lubricant a few times per year usually after a wash. Iāve done that with the three Iāve had with boards and maybe me being extra cautious with them has helped. I donāt think Ford marks them for regular maintenance but it makes me feel better. š
Aside from this walk around issue which seems to be resolved I havenāt had any issues with mine. We are in Michigan and the truck sits outside all the time.
Iāve never believed in avoiding something I find useful and use every day because something might one day maybe go wrong.
Aww man, I guess I wasn't digging down far enough into the options. Thank you! I set it to extended and did a trial run of my usual passenger door --> close --> driver door and the boards remained out.
Thanks again for taking the time to put the picture up!
The only setting for the boards is Auto, Extended, Off (something like that) where you can tell them to always be extracted. Maybe what that RAM had set, or tell them to not respond at all.
Hi all,
I am on my third F-150 with power running boards. I had a 2021 Lariat PowerBoost then a 2023 Lariat PowerBoost then the 2024 Lightning.
I really like them overall, and when I got my 2021 it had some odd quirks where the running board would retract when you lock the truck but if you...
I didn't have a pre-Heat Pump Lightning, but so far it's working great. I have been going into the office since Ford did their RTO moves and usually drive in around 5:30AM. I am in Michigan and we have had some 30-40 degree mornings and the truck has been warm and window fog free for the most...
Just giving another thumbs up to Rick's suggestion from A2Z. He mentioned the extension back when I was looking into how to get our existing EVSE cable that we use with the Mach-e in the garage to my F-150 in the driveway. I bought it back then and it has worked flawlessly and safely since.
Yeah, even works on yourself! We had the Mach-e and PowerBoost F-150 as I was trying to keep an ICE vehicle around. But we kept taking the Mach-e places even though the PowerBoost was meant to be the family/trip vehicle. The smooth and quiet drive was addicting and a few road trips proved out...
