I totally agree. We could've kept making the lightning and then added another line for the EREV at the same plant or built it on the same line.

It is the "Icarus Line" I suppose. I pushed it too far too many times, and learned a hard lesson. It was embarrassing for sure, humbling, because I drove with zero SOC, for 10 miles before. I will not let it go under 20% ever again, unless I have a jenny in the bed and a LVL 2 charger.

I hope some people learn from my mistake in trusting the GOM. I will never let it go under 20% ever again.

I am talking about these numbers that lead to the quick drain: 40-50% power, 15 miles of range/GOM, & 9-10% SOC. Under these conditions, is when it just dropped to zero, within 60 seconds.

Yup. Same. Basically it just went to zero from 50% power, 15 miles of range, 13% SOC, in a minute. I have made that last leg of the trip on 5% SOC, many times. Ford roadside did nothing for me, I had to call a local tow-truck, but at least he was there in 40 minutes.

I gotcha, I didn't know that it meant complete lightning death. Okay so on that note, temporary "brick" status then. A brick in the road, another brick in the wall, follow the yellow brick road, people who work in the "glass house" should not throw bricks! :)

Just trying to make it home w/o stopping to charge, & never had a problem before as I stated, even in the Winter, but this time the GOM called my bluff.

Before this happened, I made it home at least 6 times with less than 10%, maybe 3 times under 5% and never bricked.

Hey I think you missed something: Roadside Assistance is included during the first 5 years or 60,000 miles from your vehicle's Warranty Start Date (whichever comes first) and with most Ford Protect Extended Service Plans. If you need to arrange roadside services on your own, Ford Motor Company...

I believe you, but the rep said nope, & then she never sent the paylink, so we moved on and called local towing instead, because we were stressed out and the wife was angry af at the whole situation.

They said it is only free if you get towed to a dealership. I just wanted to go home and charge.

It went from 60% power down to 9% percent while sitting at the traffic light for 2 minutes, and then drained completely within 60 seconds.

Thanks. I think having a small gas genny in my bed for long trips, and a 240/LVL-2 charger might be a good backup plan for long distance/remote areas or for if the GOM ever lets me down again. Lesson learned. I will try to never go below, 20% SOC again.
