Hi, pretty sure I’m in the market for a Lightning soon and have a question about the service history on one that I was hoping you more knowledgeable folks might be able to help with.

I’ve got a ‘23 Lariat transferring to my local Carmax and looking at the history report I see two reports of “steering system serviced” at 2600 and 4200 miles and (possibly more concerning) 5 reports of “battery serviced or replaced”. All of those reports were at the same time as a regular multi point inspection service, tire service and sometimes brake service.

Does that seem like anything to worry about or is it just something they likely did as part of that service like just checking the condition of the 12v or HV battery?

Thanks in advance for any help!

My ‘23 had a BMS go wonky at 25K miles. Only real issue. Regular 10K checkups & no other issues other than TSB-Recall(s). Original tires (Hankooks) on lasted 45K. Would‘ve lasted 50K-55K if not for hard cornering…😬

All these trucks need multiple 12v batteries if they are low
Mile short trip trucks … I wouldn’t worry about it if it’s not a branded title truck your fine

How many miles on it now? If it has 20k or so miles on it now , then it is probably ok.

25k miles on it according to the listing. Looks like the last service that had the battery serviced or replaced note was in January at 24,683 miles. It seems like it was probably just part of a maintenance service they did since those same items were noted at each one and it seems to have been done at regular intervals between 5000-6000 miles.

My 23XLT er is at 56k miles and has been doing really good. I rolled the dice and decided to not get an extended warranty. I did same for my 22 MME er which is at 76k miles. If I can get either to 150k miles, the money saved can make the repair on the other. Once I get to 150k, I figure I also have the option to throw it away and buy something new. But as long as they are running, I will drive them till the wheels fall off.
