  1. Lightning vs Cybertruck vs Rivian! Comparison & Recommendation by Out of Spec Kyle

Maybe I’m biased as well, but I actually thought he was pretty fair in the review. Between the Lightning and the R1T, I’d have to agree with him 100% based on my own experiences I’d sum it up this way, if I’m hauling a family I’m taking the Lightning. If it’s just me, I’m taking the...
  2. EMF readings while charging

I mean you don’t HAVE too. Only if you love them and don’t want them to develop to be evil mutants. Who’s to say I don’t already? You’ve been on here long enough to know my posts.
  3. EMF readings while charging

Just do what I do, wrap your kids up in this:
  4. Parking brake - can it be set automatically?

What’s the matter? Didn’t have fun rebuilding the rear drums?
  5. Parking brake - can it be set automatically?

Im surprised you didnt do it out of habit. I’m used to throwing it in gear, pull the parking break from my MTX days. Out of habit I still pull the brake regardless of whether it’s a lever or a button.
  6. Left unplugged to cold soak?

Im not in the same climate, nowhere close. But I have experienced the same issues in my S and X with power reductions, and not just motor power but even boot up of various systems when it gets below 0. I’ve had the mirrors get stuck folded, we leave those open now. Door motors frozen. The door...
  7. Want more than 30 Amps (pro-power) what happened to 9.6KW?

The best thing to do is to supplement/buffer it. Auxiliary battery system, doesn’t have to be big with a dedicated inverter. The truck would serve to power up the batteries and your house would technically be powered by the bank. This would allow your surge loads and occasional high use while...
  8. Accelerating on braking?

Yes. In my decades of driving, living through the Audi and Toyota fiasco I rolled my eyes. Hundreds of thousands of miles in EVs, cars with pedal setups even more dense than the Lightning and for the first time in my life I hit the brake and the accelerator at the same time, causing the truck...
  9. Polite and Easy ways to charge at Tesla Superchargers

It looks like you can even steal the cord form 4D if you wanted..you know to save space on the other side of the one using for another Lightning owner.
  10. Lock on walkaway

Ford is able to have the gear lever move to Park when you get out…so seems like an obvious solution. Just have the gear lever move to Drive when you walk away. Problem solved.
  11. Lock on walkaway

I get you’re upset but Hyundai and Kia doesn’t seem to care and it hasn’t affected their ability to continue selling cars. And they’re selling cars without immobilizers, which I’d argue is worse than selling a truck without PAAK and auto lock. I get that Ford isn’t Hyundai but lawsuits and...
  12. 1st use of Tesla hotel charger

Interesting, could’ve sworn the 80A at the Aloft hotel in Raleigh NC was a Gen 1. Will need to confirm next time.
  13. Is the Rivian Adventure Network open to Lightnings yet?

Reason 1: They’ve been using as a sales tactic, offering up exclusive access to Rivian owners. Reason 2: They haven’t figured out the billing - at least at the time I sold mine. They were to start billing after a year free for a new owner but never started. I don’t think it’s about them...
  14. 1st use of Tesla hotel charger

Can you clarify? I’ve charged on Gen1s and Gen2s, on my Lightning without any issues using the Teslatap (and Lectron on the Rivian) The ones I’ve used are NACS, I haven’t used a J1772 Tesla destination charger. As far as I can recall I’ve never run into a “Tesla mode” only charger or had...
  15. 1st use of Tesla hotel charger

One was - this spot is reserved for EVs - don’t think they realized I was one. The other was more nasty - “These chargers are for TESLAS”
  16. Heated steering...cold buttons

This annoys me more than the buttons. The metal on my shifter gets ice cold. Is it too much to ask for heated and ventilated shifters and buttons?? #Firstworldproblems
  17. 1st use of Tesla hotel charger

The ones with multiples are usually fine. I have gotten a couple of notes. 1 from a single station, the second with a J1772 next to it but the J17772 was outputting 32A and the Tesla was outputting 80A. Active charging both times.
  18. 1st use of Tesla hotel charger

You’ll be able to use all of the ones that are free. There’s supposedly a couple out there that are locked down but I haven’t ran into them yet. The charge rates will vary as they’re controllable. You can get an only 3-4kW if they turned it down or you can get 19kW if you find one that’s turned...
  19. Lightning range extending with active ride height control

Only on the front. I'm sure air gets disturbed as it goes by the football sized wheel gaps.
