  1. Powertrain Malfunction/ Reduced Power

Not recommended. You cannot recharge it so you are limited to driving the distance you currently have. Also, the lower the charge when the mechanic gets to it, the more difficult it is to rebalance the modules if one has to be changed. Just get it to a dealer who will quickly diagnose it and...
  2. Job 2 Order Guide and changes

I wonder if Ford has redesigned the battery to improve reliability and reduce the need to replace failing battery modules? As my service technician told me, Ford has lost a ton of money replacing (Lightning) battery modules.
  3. Powertrain Malfunction/ Reduced Power

I picked up my Lightning this afternoon from Grappone Ford in Concord, NH, after having battery module #7 replaced. Those people are terrific. I had dropped it off with them on December 26. Most of the intervening time was spent waiting for Ford to ship the replacement for Module 7. The...
  4. Powertrain Malfunction/ Reduced Power

I don’t think all the modules are the same. Module 9 on an ER battery has fewer cells than the others. If each module is unique, carrying 9 modules in inventory could be very expensive. What has slowed everything down recently was the holiday shut down at Ford. Everyone left for the holidays...
  5. Lightning Charging in Maine

There is an 8 station Tesla supercharger at the Wells Corner Shopping Center in Wells, ME that I have used successfully. I found it using Plugshare. I-93 through the middle of NH and into VT is pretty well populated with Tesla supercharger stations every 20-30 miles
  6. Powertrain Malfunction/ Reduced Power

I have been waiting two weeks for Ford to ship a replacement battery module #7 to my dealer to replace the one with a bad cell. Late today I learned that they will be shipping it at the end of the week. It’s being shipped by truck and the arrival date at the dealership is still unclear. Once...
  7. Powertrain Malfunction/ Reduced Power

According to one Ford service technician I know, when the technician is reprogramming some parts of a Lightning, they need to connect to a Ford server to do so. Additionally according to the technician, when the Ford servers come back on line after a holiday break, they are notoriously buggy...
  8. Powertrain Malfunction/ Reduced Power

Christmas Eve as we were returning home I got the dreaded yellow wrench and the message “Service Vehicle Soon”. Fortunately my dealer, Grappone Ford in Concord, NH, has the best service department I have ever seen. I sent an email to my service rep and service technician yesterday afternoon...

  10. Tesla adds longer cables and more to Superchargers as non-Tesla EVs complicate things

If accurate, this article claims Tesla is upgrading its super charger network with longer charging cables to accommodate non-Tesla EVs. That would be good news. https://apple.news/ALvNVAvtOTGSAZ5LVwajySwn
  11. Extended Range 320 Miles???

I keep a spreadsheet for my Lariat ER tracking the date of charge, miles driven since last charge and kWh added. My calculated mi/kWh at different ambient temperatures is pretty close to the values in your matrix.
  12. A2Z Adapter Recall: Typhoon v1 Exchange Program

When it rains it pours. I received the replacement adapter from Ford and a replacement from A2Z the same day. 😊
  13. ✅ Ford Resumes Shipping NACS Charging Adapters (February 2025 batch)

Ford just notified me my replacement adapter has shipped. 😊
  14. A2Z Adapter Recall: Typhoon v1 Exchange Program

I just received an email from A2Z letting me know that the A2Z adapter I purchased last May is being recalled. 😟 Anybody else? Updated with email and video explanation: Why We're Offering This Exchange We received feedback from Tesla suggesting alleged concerns regarding the locking...
  15. Powertrain Malfunction/ Reduced Power

Quoting CSP23B57: “Less than 4% of the affected vehicle population is expected to require one or more high voltage battery modules needing to be replaced.” The key words to my way of thinking are “or more”. Replacing one module with a cell gone bad is not a guarantee that you will not have...
  16. Tesla NACS Adapter Recall / Replacement Notice (10/24/24)

Here is the date code on my recalled adapter, which I actually received in early June.
  17. Tesla NACS Adapter Recall / Replacement Notice (10/24/24)

I received the same email from Ford this morning. My adapter reservation number was about #1200 and I received it in June. So can I continue to use my Ford supplied adapter until the replacement arrives, of should I discontinue its use?
  18. New BlueCruise Version 1.4 -- Smoother, More Natural Hands-Free Highway Drive Experience (9/26/24)

It sounds like Bluecruise 1.4 is at least partially hardware enabled. I wonder if there will be hardware update kits so older Lightnings can take advantage of the new Bluecruise version?
  19. Shopping websites for used or new F150 Lightnings?

    I found mine on Edmunds.
  20. Where are the Tesla chargers?!

Use FordPass. Click on Energy tab, next click on public charging which brings up a local map and a search box. Type in the location you are searching near (e.g. Batavia, NY), and the Tesla chargers will show up.
