Wish I would have seen this earlier! We took it out this morning and I disconnected everything when we got back home. I will take pictures later this week and I'll share them.
My WD hitch is an E2 with 1000 lb round bars. IT's the same one I used on the X5, and it's a bit overkill for a...
Stopped by the local dealership yesterday and although they were more interested in checking out the Platti Hybrid, I've got an appt to drop it off in 10 days to get it fixed. We'll see how this goes!
Finished setting up the airstream and hitch connections to the new Platinum today. I was happily surprised that I didn't have to adjust the weight distribution hitch, other than change the ball height!
Now to the stickers: Just like everyone else, I have a sensor and harness and a pack of 6...
I've got a Platinum with the FX4 package. Hankook's are super quiet, and we drove 1600 miles from Iowa back to Florida. I was pleasantly surprised. Much quieter than the Firestone AT K/O's I had on my FJ Cruiser TRD. But the Hankook's aren't as "nobby" either.
I do have a leather case on my phone, but that didn't prevent the wireless charging available in my prior ride (BMW X5), or the wireless charger I use at home. I don't think that there will be a problem charging with the case in the F150. My only issue now is that the charging pad has been...
All,
Picked up the Platinum last week and while driving home, noticed that my iPhone 11 Pro Max wouldn't fit on the charge pad. Thought that was poor planning by Ford.
When I took a photo of it this morning, it almost appears as if the wireless charge pad is recessed, when it should be flat...
My guess is that it's a leftover part from manufacturing. Probably when something was inserted into the truck body, it should have been removed and discarded, but was inadvertently left in the truck. Similar to the plastic clips which hold cardboard shipping containers together.
OTA software update.
SO, this is NOT a reply to this post. Clearly my response was off base. Not sure how you get a ticket submitted to Ford. But, the response was intended to be to another question regarding "how could Ford make the Trailer camera optionally on, at any speed".
A friend of mine has one in his KR, long-bed, with a topper. It's about the only practical way to load and unload anything from the bed because of the topper (he's in his 70's). That's the extent of my experience, but it seems handy.
I've ordered the Platinum Powerboost with 701A and the standard Tow Package (I didn't go with max tow). I didn't need the upgraded bumper, or the slightly larger breaks, which I think are the two largest differences between Max Tow and Trailer Tow. But if you don't opt for either, I'm not sure...
20's are a better ride.
18's are better off-road.
If you're going to be driving in the desert or rough roads on a regular basis, you probably want the 18's. If you're towing and mainly highway/city, you're going with the 20's. (I think the Limited comes with 22's for this reason - more comfort).
Interesting - only because on my FJ Cruiser, the "old style" whip antenna was the same height as the top rail on the roof rack. Acted as a parking garage "ceiling finder". If the antenna hit, you knew to start backing up.
Are you guys indicating that the F150 whip antenna is actually higher...
