  1. What about hot climates?

Keep it simple... One idea is to set up the charger on the other side of my garage, which would shade it a bit more and just stretch the cord across. It should still reach, depending on which charger I get. Aren't most 20-24'?
  2. What about hot climates?

A lot has been discussed about cold climates and battery life/range. How does the Lightning handle hot summers? I'm in California, in the Sacramento valley and apparently we are trying to become Phoenix North for summer temps. Winter temps are in the 30's, so I'm not too concerned about that...
  3. What’s your exit plan for the truck?

Did you get another Lightning or something else?
  4. Getting the house ready for EV question

I think that is what the electrician was saying, it would be a rare case that we would max out the panel. Not saying it couldn't happen, though!
  5. Getting the house ready for EV question

Unless the electrician wants to do it on the side, I may have to wait until the remodel is done. They are on a pretty strict schedule and I don't want to interrupt the main work. As long as I can expand off the box, I'm happy.
  6. What’s your exit plan for the truck?

Thanks for all the responses, they have helped immensely. I guess I have more of an EV anxiety than range anxiety. I'm probably looking towards the end of the month or into December before deciding.
  7. Getting the house ready for EV question

If I understood him correctly, it's a 100 amp panel, but the circuits won't draw more than 60. Does that sound right? He made it sound like wiring up the Ford station wouldn't be a problem and the panel will be able to handle it, as long as we aren't running the big draw items all at once...
  8. What’s your exit plan for the truck?

Thanks for all the input. I probably won't be in the wheels fall off camp, but maybe a good 10 years or so.
  9. What’s your exit plan for the truck?

I’m curious what your thoughts are for when you plan to trade or sell the truck? Drive it till the wheels fall off? Trade at 100k miles, when the warranty is done? Trade in at 90k miles? I’m just learning about the front end of buying/living with an EV, but I don’t know what folks are doing...
  10. Getting the house ready for EV question

Ironically, the electrician will be at the house today. I told him I might be getting an EV and explained the little bits that I know. I told him about the 100 amp panel, charging 80% and actual is 48. We will talk when he gets here. Sounded like his install will allow me to add on what I need...
  11. Honda Ridgeline to Lightning...maybe.

Yeah, there are. When the time comes, I'll send out feelers to a bunch of dealers. I'm not against driving a bit for a deal. This dealer is in an auto mall and usually it's the Toyota dealer gouging everyone.
  12. Getting the house ready for EV question

Hi, looking at possibly getting a Lightning. As for the electrical side, I currently have a 220 outlet for my table saw. In a few days, we will begin remodeling our kitchen, which will include an induction cooktop, which also requires 220. They will be wiring up a new 100 amp sub panel because...
  13. Honda Ridgeline to Lightning...maybe.

I took a pic of the sticker, but there is a lot of glare. The funny thing is, the sticker was at 78, the ADM sticker next to it had it up to 82k or 84k. When I looked up the sticker on their website, they have it at 72k. They had $1200 for Pro Power Max trailer tow for $1100 Bedliner for $550...
  14. Honda Ridgeline to Lightning...maybe.

Yup, it has been and still is a nice little truck, but after sitting in and driving a full size, it's nice to stretch out a bit. I actually have to move the seat forward a bit. In the Honda, I am always hitting my knee on the lower left dash.
  15. Honda Ridgeline to Lightning...maybe.

Just saw the vid on that. A nice quick fix.
  16. Newish 24 lightning owner travel charging experience

As a non EV owner, at least for now, it sounds everyone has a couple of different apps to better navigate the charging stations. Are some of these free or is it monthly fee? And if you are paying for two or three, that digs into the savings over gas, I assume the savings is still worth it? In...
  17. Honda Ridgeline to Lightning...maybe.

Ok, i just got back from test driving a Flash. I was very impressed with the power and how quiet it was. Very easy to drive and very comfortable. I'm thinking that with the overall increase in size of vehicle vs the Ridgeline, the shorter bed may not matter. The bed is wider, the area in the...
  18. Honda Ridgeline to Lightning...maybe.

It may have been due to the longer wheelbase, but I thought it was quite nice. I’ll be test driving a Flash tomorrow, so it will be interesting to see how it compares, or doesn’t compare!
