  1. ECU module programming guide using FDRS

Only thing I could suggest, the cable is a simple USB cable with a fancy end that goes into the OBDII portion. You could try a new USB cable if you have one lying around (maybe from an old USB printer or a monitor?). I don't know much about what the activation process does since mine was already...
  2. ECU module programming guide using FDRS

I was going to suggest either clearing out the Program data folder from FDRS and any user AppData, or uninstall, restart, check that all that stuff is gone, and reinstall. I feel like something probably happened during a download and now the program doesn't know how to fix itself.
  3. Will updating via FRDS fix OTA updates for those stuck on failed 1.7.1?

Can FDRS get you past the failed 1.7.1 update? Absolutely. Will you get OTA update after you use FDRS? Probably, but I don't think there has been any instance of this happening yet. Maybe later this year we'll know for certain. I can't see Ford NOT having some plan for this. While most dealers...
  4. Module Updates - Truck runs better?

So, after the second PCM update today, I feel like Ford made one step forward and one step back. I had a few shifts that made an audible clunk, but I didn't really feel much in the cab. However, the truck did seem to do better in all electric. I'm going to wipe the adaptive shift tables tomorrow...
  5. ECU module programming guide using FDRS

Final note from me about my update experience (for now). I had Camera's at Speed and Glare Free lighting enabled, both of which had IPMA changes made. I didn't restore anything back to stock prior to updating my modules today. When I was done, no DTCs on any modules. I checked twice in FDRS...
  6. ECU module programming guide using FDRS

The further you are from the battery terminal, the more likely it is to cause problems. Using the ground point that the negative terminal is tied too isn't great, but better than the post. The battery monitoring connection doesn't know which side of it you would be connected to unless there is a...
  7. ECU module programming guide using FDRS

It's detailed somewhere in the thread. If you hook directly to the battery for both terminals, it can interfere with the module responsible for maintaining battery voltage.
  8. ECU module programming guide using FDRS

Since @Snakebitten posted, I looked back through my pictures and I did get a version change on the APIM, but it is minor. It was 22028 and now it is 22034. That is going from memory on the version after updating today as I didn't grab a picture of it. Also, I don't know if other PowerBoost...
  9. ECU module programming guide using FDRS

All went well and I got my BlueCruise notification after the GWM update. Below was my sequence, and also the update method for reference for others. PCM CAN Key On, Engine Off PSCM CAN Key On, Engine Off CCM (w/PSCM) CAN Key On, Engine Off CMR (w/PSCM) CAN Key On, Engine Off IPMA...

  11. Final Steps to Bluecruise email

Cliff Notes on how to update the vehicle: Hook truck up to a external power source Open up FDRS Plug OBDII adapter into the truck and computer Get VIN from truck, let it search Ford's servers for available options. Go to Software Update tab and start downloading/running updates. Keep going with...
  12. Front Stake Pocket Uncovering 5.5' Bed

I looked up through the sides of the bed from underneath and the openings are definitely there. On my truck, it appears that the fuel fill neck is in the way down low on the driver's side. No obstructions up top. There is no support down lower though, so I would say that they are only good as...
  13. ECU module programming guide using FDRS

I asked Opus if there was a difference between their adapters (Ford, Honda, Toyota, etc.) and if I could use the Ford adapter with another brand since they're supposed to be just J2534 pass-through devices. They said that you can't do that and they are all unique. It would be great to get...
  14. ECU module programming guide using FDRS

Are the characters that are missing the last two in a full set? If so, that may be the checksum set that you see in Forscan. That would be my only guess. Also @Jesse-Infotainment, to think that bench setup you have there with the mess of wires is all hidden behind the dash, under the hood, and...
  15. Module Updates - Truck runs better?

I hate following up my own post with another, but here it is. I do question the people that supposedly had the dealer perform the harsh shifting TSB after my experience. After updating my PCM and clearing the shift tables, shifting has been significantly better. I've put about 600 miles on it (I...
  16. ECU module programming guide using FDRS

The PSCM module will also kick off the CCM/IPMA/CMR/PSCM chain. I'm guessing that if you attempt CCM, PSCM, or IPMA, you're likely going to be updating all 3 modules, so don't try to do any of those with a Nano device.
  17. ECU module programming guide using FDRS

I'm hanging out in my truck while it's going on because I want to watch the process. I also want to avoid bumping anything, so I'm trying not to get in/out to much for that reason as well. I don't think it'll stop if you leave it do its thing though and wanted to just check in on it...
  18. ECU module programming guide using FDRS

The status monitor camera is 16439 steps and I'm about halfway through. Going fairly quick so far. Keeping my fingers crossed I don't run into any issues ??
  19. ECU module programming guide using FDRS

Started around 9:30 (Eastern), currently on the status monitor camera update. The PCM, PSCM, and CCM are already updated. I think the only other one that was in the list when this set kicked off was the IPMA. I'm assuming I'll have at least one update pop up after this set completes.
