  1. F-150 Lightning Platinum (Iconic Silver) & Lariat (Rapid Red) Spotted On Public Roads

Darren Palmer said that in an interview I watched from a link in this forum. They knew they would need a truck that was lighter to accomodate the weight of batteries down the road...
  2. Chapman and Granger Lightning allocation?

I'd probably pay a bit over MSRP if it ensured I got in on the $7500 credit. We could dump our SUV while used car prices are hot. 5-10k over, eh, probably not. I bought my Transit in Las Vegas and had to fly there. When I showed up I got a $995 doc fee slapped on the pricing. I was buying...
  3. ATLAS BLUE F-150 Lightning Photos & Club

This is my favorite color on the Lightning but we had similar colors on a Volvo S80 and Honda CRV. The Honda had so many little scratches that showed up as white everywhere after 3 years. Tons of swirl marks too. Is that cuz of the paint Honda used, or just something that happens with darker...
  4. School me (us) on smart chargers

I did a 700 mile road trip in a Model X a few years ago. Owner is retired and road trips a lot. We stopped for coffee or food every 2.5 hours and he just charged however long we needed for our stop, not what the car needed. By the end of the day we were 20 miles from home but the car said we...
  5. List: F-150 Lightning dealers that do / don't apply ADM (price markup)

They said they'd charge MSRP... just took two days to get a reply...
  6. October 26 is apparently NOT when 2022 F-150 Lightning ordering begins (order bank opens)

My dealer said although Oct 26th might be the target date, Ford has missed their internal date by several weeks in the past, so don't hold your breath. Could be Nov or Dec.
  7. Towing thoughts/questions

Just another data point but for RC airplanes and quadcopters, folks in my club heat their batteries in winter. Even just leaving them in your pockets makes a big difference. However, the batteries are exposed to cold airflow once the craft is flying and range drops off then. If you fly like a...
  8. What cars do you have now?

We have had a lot of cars over the years of all different makes and body types. Most didn't stick around too long. Of the three we have now (Transit 350, Porsche Macan S, Subaru Outback, oh and an old Sienna parked elsewhere we rarely use), I'd like to see the F150 replace the Macan S and...
  9. Is Ford Underestimating the Demand for the Pro Trim?

I'm a van guy (had a Tacoma for a long time but got my first van in 2012) but the only van coming is the VW ID Buzz. No one seems to like the infotainment system in the VWs, and they've done away with physical buttons, which I cant stand; probably won't have the power outlets and other handy...
  10. October 26 is apparently NOT when 2022 F-150 Lightning ordering begins (order bank opens)

These days you can publish an article based on even less than that! I wrote for my high school paper when I was 15 and the standards were higher...
  11. Changing dealer after order in october

You can't get out of it. If you show up with CA ID and try to buy in OR, they'll tell you to register it yourself (and DMW will make you pay sales tax) or make you pay sales tax as part of the purchase. I've bought two cars out of state and both times I had to register it myself.
  12. List: F-150 Lightning dealers that do / don't apply ADM (price markup)

To any fellow Washingtonians west of the Cascades, or those in the Portland metro area: I emailed Bellingham, Burlington, Issaquah/Evergreen, Kent, and Washougal dealers and told them whoever confirms no ADM first gets my business. - Evergreen in Issaquah was first to confirm no ADM in...
  13. Towing thoughts/questions

I'm trying to understand the use case for the trailer assist stuff (not more tow capacity or integrated brake controller). I can reverse 42 feet of van + trailer into a 42 foot by 8 foot spot, sideways on a steep hill with only the mirrors in about 90 seconds. I'm not sure what I'd be buying...
  14. What color F-150 Lightning are you ordering?

I don't really like any of the colors. The blues stand out the most, but we owned a dark blue metallic car before and it showed scratches and swirls so much I wouldn't want to have that again. I hate washing cars. Atlas Blue looks really good on a clean car. Black gets too hot and also...
  15. October 26 is apparently NOT when 2022 F-150 Lightning ordering begins (order bank opens)

I tried emailing my dealer here in Bellingham WA and also further south in Burlington this AM; not response yet. Doesn't seem like a lot of WA folks on this forum. I'd be fine driving down to Oregon, maybe Idaho. I'm going to rent an F150 before Oct 26 to get a feel for the thing. Losi, do...
  16. Alex On Autos F-150 Lightning Review from Ford Event

If you watch the Sandy Munro videos he expects a 30% drop in range when towing. More if towing uphill. No comment on cold weather but looks like that Mach E thread has the data you need.
  17. Motortrend Rivian R1T First Drive

It's a lot easier to control an electric motor than an ICE engine and transmission, from a control systems standpoint. Mountain bikers would refer to this as better modulation...
  18. Motortrend Rivian R1T First Drive

I'm into RC airplanes+drones now and Lipo packs are often 80-120c :) I'm sure most are over-rated by the Chinese mfgs. But I charge at 1-2C for all of them. Those A123 cells were what all the DIY ebikers (there weren't really any commercial options at the time) were trying to get a hold of...
  19. Motortrend Rivian R1T First Drive

I built ebikes back in the 2000s and was an EAA member (where folks were converting cars to EVs) and with lead acid I recall depth of discharge and rate of charge/discharge affected cycle and calendar life. Does this not matter with EV lithium ion packs? I suppose the discharge rate is...
  20. Ford Lightning Roadshow invite for reservation holders

Do they not allow cameras? Should I not show up with a 6k cinema rig?
