Interesting read.
My opinion, that's just Toyota thinking about creating a fake wind up and shift feel (the pop, the gforce, the level off and then pop again) to simulate a manual shifter.
I believe purists would come to despise that for what it is, as fake as pumping V8 sounds thru your car...
Couple of thoughts.
One, yes, I thought I read somewhere that the CAT scales repeatability was 20lbs (or maybe it was +/- 10lbs).
Also, not sure but when talking Tongue Weight (when a WDH can be used) gets confusing. I would say your Trailer Tongue Weight is 860lb (6640-5580) as the trailer...
If you have Tow Pkgs with Pro Trailer Backup Assist you have in your truck either Stickers (will be in with all the manuals) or the Sensor and cable (might be hidden somewhere in your truck (under/behind the seats, etc).
If you have neither your dealer owes one or the another to you.
Note, my...
Yes and yes.
To use Scales or Smart Hitch, need two things. Truck on (but doesn't have to be actually started) and Bluetooth connected. It does not work over Cellular connection.
For Bluetooth you have to be in range (less than 100ft, more like standing near the truck).
However, if you use...
As others have noted, on a level roadway, the mpg is MUCH more affected by driving 75mph vs 65mph then it is by having the tow weight go from 2000lbs to 5000lbs.
ie. tow weight is not as big a factor as higher speed is.
If you have a chance (and it is safe) find a level road, put the...
2022 built in Dec, KR PB 6.5', Max Tow, 360 Cam, Blue Cruise, etc.
No longer include Yaw Sensor ONLY stickers. Manual says you can purchase Yaw Sensor as Accessory from Ford.
Are you active on FDRS thread, do you know if anyone over there has Onboard Scales?
I found in ForScan (that's all I have) there were a couple of registers (address) that had either Weight or Scale (I used global search on the spreadsheet).
For Scale there was some entries that looked like it...
Yes, in Scale Mode (i.e. horizontal graph), you ALWAYS have to Reset to 0 before loading anything you want to measure.
Same for Smart Hitch, BEFORE hitching up, you have to Reset Hitch Weight to 0, then hitch up. Not sure if that's what you did.
Couple of thoughts. I don't do lifts or after-market suspensions, so not sure how that would/could affect CCD or Scales operations.
If your truck is also your daily driver, including many times passengers, then I think CCD is definitely worth it.
On the Scales function there are 2 (possibly 3...
Agree. I did just that (weighed at CAT Scale). That is how I check my actual weight, and Ford's calculation of my allowable Payload. All of that checks out.
That is my published GVWR is 7350. My curb weight As Built (meaning all manufactured options plus full tank of gas, and no other weight...
Thanks for the replies.
There are 2 function with the Onboard scales.
One called Scale Mode is the horizontal one showed in the post above, and it can be zeroed. And so far in my testing it, it seems to work.
The other (the default every time you go into Onboard Scales) is the Vehicle Mode...
Still hoping someone with Onboard scales will post with what the scale shows when either empty (as built) or with just you sitting in it.
Does it show close to 0 (if empty and as built) or does it show close to the weight of what you have in it (i.e. you)?
Mine is showing around 400lbs without...
Is there a way to disable the front parking aid sensors/warnings, in the situation where you have a winch (or bull bar) installed (blocking the sensor) so that you do NOT get the warning EVERY time you start moving?
I have '22 KR PB 4x4 6.5', fully loaded. My payload sticker is 1296lb.
Firing up the Sync "Onboard Scales" app (with the vertical green and red bar), it does show 1296 at the top of the bar. But, it shows sitting at about 400lb empty (I'm standing outside looking in the window), without even a...
To answer in generalities based on reading/watching a gazillion vids/web sites...
If your trailer is over say 7000lbs and you do NOT have any interest in the PowerBoost function for powering your trailer, then you should probably be looking at a Super Duty (F-250, etc).
PB is not avail in SD...
The 12 pin connector on my truck bumper has female pins in all 12 holes, so not sure that helps.
I don't have any cables that connect to that connector yet, as 2022's don't ship with YAW sensor any more, and I haven't order the Trailer TPMS or Cam.
Here is a pic of the back side of that...
Pg 312 of Owner's Manual (2022):
Note: If your vehicle loses electrical power
or detects a fault when you are driving, the
system shuts down and you retain a normal
steering function with a fixed steering ratio.
During this time, it is possible that the
steering wheel could not be straight when...
Unless, you have a 2022 F150 with the Tow Packages.
My build (built in Dec) has the full wiring for Yaw, Trailer TPMS, Trailer Camera in the 12 pin connector on the truck. There are 9 pins/wires used.
On the 2021 F150 builds they only wired 2 pins to support Yaw Sensor.
GChurch, thanks for all the info and vids.
I crawled back under my 2022 and I definitely have 8 wires. The back of that connector has 2 horizontal rows of 6. All 6 on the bottom row are populated (see pic) and then 2 of the 6 on the top row (a black wire and a blue/orange striped wire).
