Great info Blofliin. Thanks! I was wondering in this thread about what makes the HDPP different.
I believe some of these components you can get with other packages? I'm told that a F150 with a power boost engine will have 3 leaf springs? And tow Max Tow Package also comes with the 9.75...
So the Heavy-Duty Payload Package (HDPP) comes with the 64H wheels unique to only that package. I'm guessing the 64H wheel has a higher load rating than the others which allows for the higher GVWR that F150s with the HDPP have.
So what is that load rating? If you were to buy aftermarket...
To be clear, having batteries may decrease payload capacity, but it would not decrease the GVWR. A truck with the HDPP has a greater GVWR which accounts for the increased payload capacity. In other words, no one can claim that just adding weight (i.e. batteries) as the reason you can't get the...
Adding components like batteries won't decrease the GVWR and the 4x4 Ecoboost SuperCrew with HDPP has a 500lbs greater GVWR than the equivalent F150 with a PowerBoost.
There is something that increases the GVWR with HDPP. It's not just that the weight of the PowerBoost components negates any...
Thanks. I was wondering if there were actual frame differences.
Not entirely clear on this table though. Row 19 shows 'Yes' for 'PB', 'HPP' for 'Frames', and '0.102' for 'F-Thick' . Does this mean you get a '0.102' thick frame with a PowerBoost 4x4?
Where can I find the source info for...
That's makes sense.
However, the GVWR of a Powerboost is only 7,350lbs, but for a SuperCrew Ecoboost with the Heavy-Duty Payload Package (HDPP), it's 7,850lbs. So the HDPP increases the GVWR somehow and it can't just be that there 500-600lbs of battery the Powerboost is taking up the capacity...
So, found this article which has good info on the package. It says:
"The payload package includes a 3.73-geared electronic-locking rear axle, 9.75-inch gearset, 36-gallon fuel tank (except XL regular cab models), LT265/70R18C OWL all-terrain tires, upgraded springs, and unique 18-inch...
So the Heavy Duty Payload package which significantly increases the vehicles payload (according to the F150 Spec Sheet) is not available with a PowerBoost engine in 2021.
What is actually done to the F150 to increase its payload? Any chance that the Heavy Duty Payload package could be...
So what is the actually the difference (physically) between a F150 with a
3.5L EcoBoost V6 with the Heavy-Duty Payload Package and one without? Is the Heavy-Duty Payload Package something Ford could possibly offer on 2022 F150s with a PowerBoost Engine?
Interesting, I did not know that. Definitely makes the PowerBoost less usable
This is a good point. Makes the Lance 650 not really an option for me.
What option is that? What does it actually do?
That's a good point. I hadn't thought about that.
Yeah. I'll have to look around more. There are a bunch of pop-up style truck campers from companies like Four Wheel Campers, Outfitter Mfg, and Phoenix Pop Up Campers that I'll have to consider. Will make the camper less luxurious and less...
Thinking about getting a Lance 650 for a 5.5 box too. According to Lance the camper is designed to fit on that config. Apparently the family of this YouTuber has done it on a 2014 F150 SuperCrew (looks like a 5.5 box, but he doesn't say in any of the videos)
An F250 won't even fit in my...
I'm wondering about verifying all the electronics. There are so many buttons and modes; how do verify that you're getting all you paid for let alone whether they're working?
