A lot of it will be dependent on how far apart the chargers actually are but, in general, on a long trip the more time you spend in the 150kw window the faster the trip will be. Going to 70% won’t make a big difference but it also isn’t really necessary depending on how far the next charger is...
For those who listened to the InsideEVs podcast this morning @tommolog said that they have already shifted his delivery window and looks like they’ll miss it again (i think he said it’s currently 6/14-6/20). His dealer told him the truck still hasn’t been loaded so a Monday (6/20) delivery...
I appreciate the write-up, always good to get feedback from a real owner.
One thing i would say is that if you’re roadtripping with the Lightning try to spend as much time as possible in the 0-50% state of charge range. If you’re doing 100 miles per stop try to charge just enough to get...
It’s weird how they slowly add stuff to the app over the course of weeks. Last weekend i got a picture in the account page, then a few days later i got the picture on the main page, then today i got the activate button. Seems like it should just add everything at once. I doubt there’s...
As they note in the video, it’s difficult to gauge the true efficiency without instrumentation but just based on the total energy delivered from the charger it appears the Lightning is about 5% less efficient. Not too bad!
Even after seeing the Rivian and Lightning in a bunch of pictures, i was...
That is cool but it will be a long time before those become common. Unfortunately, the 10s of thousands of L2 chargers already out there would be very expensive to upgrade to 80A, if it’s even possible.
Well, it was a coherent response but not well reasoned. Let’s give all visitors to government buildings free ice cream, it will really raise their spirits. It’s just like providing bathrooms!
What’s your point? Are you going to make a coherent argument why free vehicle fueling is a reasonably required service? Parking and bathrooms clearly are and in many cases are required by regulation.
With it gaining 7% on the way down and using 16% on the way up, it’s only about a net of 9% loss. That means they could make the loop 11 times on a full charge, which means it’s got about 175-180 miles of range through the Ike loop.
i was impressed that the battery/motor temp didn’t go up at...
