We took a drive today to the nearby Bellthorpe National Park for a bit of a look around.
On the way, from a lookout towards the Glasshouse Mountains:
We stopped at an old forest logging mill for morning tea, where some of the wildlife (magpie and 2 butcherbirds) wanted what we had...
Try using Lanolin Anti-corrosion lubricant spray underneath before doing the sandy stuff.
Then wash everything down afterwards to remove the salt and sand. A technique to help with washing underneath is to pull an oscillating lawn sprinkler through to wash it all off. If you've done the...
At 0.7 mi/kWh, I think it would be a bit tight on margin, but I also think I would not be at that level for the whole 70 km.
It's a while off before I want to do this, but I might do some tests on real world usage to at least the beach access points first. We have to pay a permit to access...
Yes, at least 70 kms, but maybe more as there are some sandy tracks off the beach as well. An extra hassle is that there's about 50 km of road from the last charger to the beach access point. Plus, while I can start the trip from home at 100%, getting to that last charger will drop me to 80%...
Maybe. Yes, you're driving slow, but I think there's probably extra effort to "push" through the sand, versus what you would normally expend on hard surfaces.
But I don't know.
I am trying to get some indication of the change in mileage for the Lightning while doing soft sand (e.g. beach) driving. Anyone got any data on how this affects range? My searching hasn't turned up anything useful yet.
As you've now worked out - I'm in Australia.
I need to change that Sunshine Coast to mention Australia. Have to hunt through the menus and sort that...
Yes, the first private Lightning owner in Australia.
There is FordPass in Australia, but the Lightnings are currently not sold here by...
Did an approx 100km drive this morning, starting at 70% and ending at 45% charge. 31kWh/100km, which I thought was ok for my setup and the hilly terrain I was in.
Love the colour change at different angles and lighting.
The power hasn't been changed but has panels over it. I haven't got around to popping those off yet. Yeah, the 220V thing is problematic. I'm not sure if some form of adapter is possible - my google searching based on my limited knowledge hasn't turned up anything useful.
Username - I assume...
Finally got the vehicle back from the detailers - they seemed to have done a great job.
I got to do some more driving around the coast and energy consumption is definitely high, but to be expected with the tires, etc. It's sometimes difficult to not compare it to the Tesla Model 3 which is...
Thanks for the reply, very interesting.
I also have no idea how the Over the Air updates will go here. If necessary I'll poke the dealer about it if it becomes an issue. It must be something they have to handle already, so I'm hoping I'll fall into the same category as everybody else.
Most...
Great news. I think I've found one better than the default rubber mats from the dealer that offer more protection, including the door rim area.
I can't wait to get it back from the PPF install and get to actually using it!
Do you have any thread(s) on using the Lightning with your caravan...
Yes, I will be the unicorn here for a while, but I'm retired now, so my wife and I will be doing a lot of solo travelling so I guess it won't matter much.
We've got some ICE F150s in Australia (not many), but there's some 3rd party support for gear. I have to look into what converts over. An...
I forgot to note how far I drove from the delivery to the detailers, but there was a fair distance at 110 km/hr. The efficiency was about 36 kWh/100km. I think that converts to about 1.74 mi/kWh. Not great, but I did note that the efficiency became a lot better in the slower speed zones (of...
