UPDATE: Fix completed using the TSB. Took them a day. Highly recommend getting this taken care of. My ears were trained into hearing it every time I accelerated that it is now jarringly quiet and smooth. Perfection!
This update did some weird things. Finally got it to let me add charging preferences, but now the FordPass app refuses to update me on the truck’s status. Also looks like the truck isn’t connecting to my home wifi anymore, and when I try to select one, none appear available. Update kind of broke...
You’re probably right honestly. I tried resetting the UI, unplugging and plugging back in — it still wanted to charge to 100%. I’ll drive it around tonight and plug it in. Hopefully that works and allows me to schedule.
Just got this update and the sneaky little devil tried to bypass the settings I had and charge to 100%. I went ahead and stopped it and deleted the current location. Unfortunately, it won't give me an option to re-add it. Might have to drive it around a bit or something.
Just out of safety concern, I'd get it replaced asap. Maybe you can convince your servicer to try and reinforce it better than the factory did. Sorry to hear that, by the way. First day issue is wild.
Anyone have a successful service and fix of this? Were they able to do it in a day? Taking mine in next week and already have anxiety about leaving its side ?
Just had a similar experience. Power reduced to 91% with 28% range left. Assumed it was accounting for low range, but hadn’t experienced power loss before. Normal or no?
Welp, thought I was being crazy, but I think I have the same sound forming after 800 miles. I don't hear it every time, and when I do, it's not near as loud as the videos in this thread, but it's there. May wait to see if it gets worse, but seems like an easy service fix with the TSB.
Step 1: Person complains about estimated mileage.
Step 2: People who have had their Lightings for a while advise not to use the mileage estimate and stick to mi/kWh and %.
Step 3: Person uses estimated mileage to determine %.
Sigh.
Third paragraph here needs to be stickied. Great explanation to help people freaking out about the range mileage guess because they don’t understand how EVs work yet. Follow the mi/kWh. Do your own math. And watch out for head wind! Appreciate you!
I consider myself an elite parallel parker and it does a better job than I could ever do. It’ll get close to cars and curbs but it will never hit them. I’ve never had it not work on the first try. Trust it. Highly recommend!
You ever hear back from your dealer? I have the same thing — totally sounds like a deliberate electronic break. Only thing they gives me pause is that toggling the auto-hold button on/off doesn’t do anything. Same sounds. Could very well be normal (it’s for sure not clicking like the thread you...
Nooooooooooooo. We live in the PNW and got hit hard too. Work up with nightmares thinking about this scenario. Sorry to see this, but hopefully they can get it all corrected for you soon
Same. We didn’t pay what we did to save a few miles by using just the heated seats. If I can’t understand or live with how an EV works, I wouldn’t have bought one!
(Be careful charging up to 100% too much.)
