Make sure to check in on PlugShare to warn people about the failed charge attempt.
I remember reading bad reports about the PC at Nipigon and didn't even try it. I just went to Terrace Bay instead.
For me the ability to leave the truck "On" for many hours or overnight with climate control is a great feature. It really doesn't use much juice. You can verify with an OBD dongle.
If all you need is power, that feature on the 24s to leave the outlets on with everything else off might be useful...
Interesting. I definitely charged at Petro Can in Kenora. By the A&W on the east end. Apple Maps still shows it, but it's not in Plugshare either now. I wonder what happened to it.
Edit: sure enough, they are "optimizing" the network, and others noticed the same gap between Winnipeg and TB...
If you make your way north at some point, may I suggest the Icefields Parkway between Lake Louise and Jasper, Alberta. It should be on everyone's bucket list in my humble opinion. And it fits your description LOL. 312 km from Jasper to Canmore is a little close if it's cold.
No. Ford views the app as a fancy key fob, just an afterthought, a fancy option. Not an integral part of the vehicle's interface like buyers expect in 2025.
Last spring when I did the trip, yes PC had a separate charging app. I think they deprecated that since then though... supposedly to move to just one app for gas and electric, but the unified app wasn't ready, so we were supposed to just use a credit card to activate or something? Not sure...
FordPass has worked great for me activating Flo chargers. I also use it for ChargePoint. Excellent idea to try things out before you really need it! I had to try out the Tesla adapter at my local station too, though I haven't used it for real yet.
On my cross country trip I think I used apps...
If I didn't have a large dog that takes up the whole back seat area, I would probably just throw stuff in the back seat because it's quicker to open. But with the dog, using the frunk comes pretty naturally. I do use it most of the time when shopping.
And of course the "sub frunk" is perfect...
Usually, RFID activation means a dedicated RFID card for that specific charging network. Not a credit or debit card. But I could be wrong. What location did you mean, specifically? Do you have a PlugShare link? "Jiffy" as a charging network doesn't ring a bell.
Maybe DM @Ford Motor Company to see if they can give your dealer a kick in the pants. Even if it is a rare problem, Ford knows bad news circulates a lot faster than good, so they will probably be willing to help.
Yeah unfortunately that sounds like some hardware issues with the truck. If it's a software thing, sometimes disconnecting the 12 volt to force a full reboot of everything can help, but if there are issues with the battery then who knows. Sorry to hear, that's a pretty bad experience.
