Isn't ABRP a paid subscription app though? I thought I read someone mentioning that.
So in your view, you set up your truck and give it the avg efficiency ratings, and then it takes that, and also factors in elevation, speed limits, etc., and it has been pretty accurate for you? Even up and...
Hey all
Anyone know how to modify the Android Auto state of charge estimator on arrival feature, to reflect towing?
I have found it to be really accurate for most of my road trips and daily drives, but when towing, it does not change to reflect the towing load like the truck's range estimator...
Well here she be.... Open Range 19BH trailer, GVWR of 4650lbs. Towed it from here empty, so about 3550lbs. Full 8ft wide trailer.
Towing stage 1: 68kms (42.5 miles), very minor overall elevation drop (<50m), temps 20*C to 15*C, speed around ~80-100kmh (50 - 62.5 mph), averaged about 90kmh...
Thanks for this TaxMan....I just encountered this yesterday as well.
I was charging at a supercharger before bringing our new travel trailer home, and I had planned to charge to 100%. Yes I know it is slow after 80%, and slow AF after 85%, but I had the time and the charger had tons of empty...
Hi all
Trying this here on Main. Back in Oct 2024, I test drove a dealer truck, and did a small tow test with my tent trailer. I noticed that when I turned on the turn signals, it automatically showed the camera view for the side views of the vehicle....super handy.
Fast forward to now, and...
Hi all
Did a test tow of a 19 foot class Bunkhouse trailer this weekend, doing a 90km loop at highway speeds, with a "mountain" of 400 meters (~1,300ft) elevation and descent, and then return trip the same elevation and descent.
Results were pretty on par with the Towing efficiency Data...
Sounds like you did the trip already and it worked, but for my $0.02, I have found Ford's estimated SOC at arrival to be very accurate (plus or minus 1-2%) on all of the trips I have taken so far. Whether a short 45km trip up to the local ski hill, or 300km legs of a winter road trip through...
Great, thanks!!
This is very similar to a unit that I am looking to get....around that same length, single axle, etc. And generally speaking i never tow at higher than 65 mph (105kmh), whether I was driving a gas vehicle or EV....i just don't think one should be towing something much faster...
That's a unique rig! Just clarifying.... you went 120kms round trip, and it used a total of 54.45kwh? So, efficiency avg of 45.4kwh/100km?
That's not too bad overall....winter towing, and you'd have a theoretical 300km of range?
I am trying to guestimate my efficiency if I go ahead with a...
Anyone encounter this?
Drove kids to school, everything was fine. Took daughter inside, came back out and got into truck, and my instrument cluster didn't turn on.
Pulled over, parked, turned truck off, got out so it locked. stood there in the snow for a couple mins, then got back in...
Hey all
Have a '24 Flash trim, and I have had this happen twice now where the truck has been chiming at me about the seat belts even though all the occupied seats have them done up. The old fashioned seatbelt warning image from every vehicle I've ever owned shows on the dash, as well as the...
Funny enough, I had to convince my wife as well. Not that the smart meters are a scam/etc., but that the time of day would work for us, ESPECIALLY now with 3 frikkin EVs charging at home.
Glad you found it useful.
I think that the one thing that makes the % SoC arrival estimate LESS accurate, is speeding...so I think the truck takes posted speed limits and elevation along the route into account.
One section we drove where the SoC at arrival estimate was 3-4% off, was a...
That's great to hear about your trip and efficiency. 31 overall for a 9500km trip is good, that's a theoretical 420+ km range for all highway. Or about 17% less than rated range.
Are you on the time of day rates for BC Hydro? If so, how's it been for you?
We just made the switch to that...
Hello folks
Finally got to do a long-ish road trip in our 2024 Flash trim Lightning, doing about 1500kms round trip through BC in winter, with lots of elevation changes, high speed highways, and some snow/cold. Here are some notes:
Cost:
Overall, spent $200 on fast charging for 1500 kms of...
Agreed. Same with us, even towing our tent trailer with our ID4 the last 2 summers on our 2000km round trip mtn bike trips.... it is fine that we have to stop to charge after ~200kms of driving. The kids get to play at a playground, eat a decent meal, etc., while we fuel up. Much better than...
