the truck does not unlock by grabbing the handle from outside after you press the 7/8 9/0 button. It’s the same as sitting in the truck with it running and locking the doors. They do not unlock if someone walks up and pulls the handle. That would be silly.

Technically if you add any “new”electrical you need to get it inspected by a approved electrical inspector. Depends where you live on whether or not electrician needs to be licensed. Would be a question for your local code enforcement.

Mine is the same way in my 22 Powerboost. I have driven several F150s with the fold down shifter and they are all the same. Eventually I believe they will go to the knob like the other EV vehicles or touch screen selection. We truck people do not like change. lol
