  1. MCS for F150L?!

The Megawatt Charging System, MCS is being introduced in North America, MCS. This system is capable of charging 3.5 MW, ten times faster than the fastest CCS chargers. MCS is currently intended for electric big rigs but it would sure be nice to have this kind of charging power available to the...
  2. Present your F150L at Drive Electric Week event

I have presented my EVs at Drive Electric Week events for the last six years and I’m showing at an event next Sunday but there no F150 Lightnings showing at my event, https://driveelectricweek.org/. If you live in the Dallas area, I would love to see your F150L this weekend. Please consider...
  3. Potential to upgrade Lightning to 350kw in future?

Considering that these trucks are going to be on the road for at least a couple of decades, anything is possible. Remember, modern EV technology is still very new. The technology is still so new that there is still no high voltage battery aftermarket. As time goes by the aftermarket will grow...
  4. Charging at Ford dealerships

Ford is going to split into several different divisions with some dealerships dedicated to selling EVs. Ford dealerships that sell EVs will be required to install DC fast chargers. Low volume EV dealerships will probably on get a single Level 1 DC fast charger that will only charge up to 24 kW...
  5. What MSRP to use for the new tax credit?

I saw what was on the Ford.com but what is shown on Ford.com does not agree with what is shown on the actual window sticker. The actual window sticker for the Lariat with extended range battery shows a Base MSRP as $74,484 with a $11,500 option for the ER battery. The F150L window sticker above...
  6. What MSRP to use for the new tax credit?

The $80k price cap for the new $7,500 tax credit rule will eliminate the tax credit for the XLT and the Lariat with an extended range battery. I have also read that the IRS will use the Base MSRP and the extended range battery would be considered an option, not considered in the MSRP...
  7. DFW Lightning owners

Is anyone interested in a F150 Lightning Club? I have entered my EVs in a bunch of auto shows. Usually the Tesla crowd is well represented at the auto shows and a lot of the auto shows give awards for the best auto club turn out. I think being in a F150 Lightning auto that exhibits in local...
  8. Poll: 2023 Lightning - Still Ordering?

You can’t. There are so many reservations all the 2023s are already sold. You might be able to order a 2024 but don’t count on it.
  9. Poll: 2023 Lightning - Still Ordering?

Because of my reservation date, I wasn’t expecting delivery until 2024 anyway. If I get asked to order I will try to defer so I can see how the market shakes out in 2023. Ford was on the verge of losing the tax credit anyway so I don’t see any point in crying about the tax credit on higher trim...
  10. Is 320 miles on ER possible? Not seeing it in the math...

The rated range of the SR F150L and the 62 kWh Leaf are so close that I would recommend reading the range compared to speed directly off of the 62 kWh Leaf range chart. For example, a SR F150L traveling at 75 mph would have a usable range of 185 miles.
  11. Ep 1: TFL Northern Lightning Trip From Sacramento, CA to Deadhorse, AK

I have been watching EV charger progress along the Alaska Highway through Canada and up Dalton Highway to the Arctic Ocean for several years now. It has always been possible to travel from the lower 48 to the Arctic Ocean by EV, which was proven by several Tesla owners, but progress has really...
  12. Is 320 miles on ER possible? Not seeing it in the math...

The Fast Lane Truck just drove a F150L from Michigan to the Arctic Ocean in northern Alaska., . I find long distance by EV rewarding and a real adventure. It sounds like your dealer has a real bias against EVs and is trying to talk you into an ICE he has sitting on the lot. BTW if you...
  13. Is 320 miles on ER possible? Not seeing it in the math...

Tony Williams generated the range chart for the 60kWh Nissan Leaf below; This chart has some excellent information on it for predicting EV range. Even though I have never owned a 60kWh Nissan Leaf, I have used this chart many, many times for predicting my EV range on long trips. There are...
  14. What is the current weekly F150L production rate?

An article on Insideevs.com, US: Ford BEV Sales Reached A New Record In July 2022 indicates that Ford sold 2,173 F150Ls, so we are hardly over 500 units a week so far. To get to 150,000 units a year Ford is going to have to produce 3,000 F150Ls per week. There are only 21 weeks left in 2022 so...
  15. Ford Options - Current Financing Interest Rate & Residuals on 2022 F-150 Lightning

I think you are very wrong on this. The residual percentages compared to MSRP on EVs are typically much lower than on ICE vehicles. For example, an ICE vehicle may have a residual of 65% of MSRP after 2 years where an EV with the same MSRP may have a residual of 55% of MSRP after 2 years. I...
  16. 2023 F150 Lightning not on dealer ordering webpage

I just received a link from my Ford dealer, https://www.5starford.com/custom-order-request/ford/ that lists the ordering availability for Ford Vehicles but the F150L is not on the list. The web page lists which vehicles can be ordered now and which can be order can be ordered in August...
  17. EV Tax Credit Expansion Deal Reached by Senate

We have seen if for years; EVs getting vandalized, ICEs intentionally blocking EV chargers, fights at EV charging stations, etc. As EVs become more prevalent acts against EVs are only going to get worse. When the governments start requiring over 50% of all new vehicles to be EVs or ZEVs I...
  18. EV Tax Credit Expansion Deal Reached by Senate

It's about loss of control. When people feel like they are losing control they get violent.
  19. EV Tax Credit Expansion Deal Reached by Senate

Of course, people see things differently, but I could project that the violence of 6-JAN-2021 was a result of how some people perceived the new administrations planned climate change policies. The CAFE standards keep getting stricter every year and CARB states are setting ZEV dates. Some...
  20. EV Tax Credit Expansion Deal Reached by Senate

I'm a strong proponent of renewables and I wish I could say I agree with you but, unfortunately, the new bill links development of renewables with the development of fossil fuels. I have been fighting for a sustainable future for decades. I have grown pretty dispassionate about sustainability...
