  1. 3323 mile round trip Northern AZ to LA to Vancouver, WA -- Fantastic vehicle.

Agreed. Same with us, even towing our tent trailer with our ID4 the last 2 summers on our 2000km round trip mtn bike trips.... it is fine that we have to stop to charge after ~200kms of driving. The kids get to play at a playground, eat a decent meal, etc., while we fuel up. Much better than...
  2. 3323 mile round trip Northern AZ to LA to Vancouver, WA -- Fantastic vehicle.

That's awesome, thanks! We've had another EV for about 35,00kms now so we know the speed kills thing. And the cabin temps...I usually have the temps set to 19-20*C as well. But, I will be upping my tire pressure, as the truck came stock with 36psi on all 4 tires. That said...I have only had...
  3. 3323 mile round trip Northern AZ to LA to Vancouver, WA -- Fantastic vehicle.

So....first off...holy moly!! Converting this from Freedom Units, here is my math 3,323 Miles = 5,317kms To get to base 100km: 5,317 / 53.17 1429 KWH / the same 53.17 = 26.9kw Overall efficiency then = 26.9kwh/100kms That is absolutely WILD how good that is! How did you get this that...
  4. Charge Station EV conversion to $4.50 per gallon @18mpg

This is mostly an America gas cost being heavily subsidized problem. Here in Canada, the comparison of the same would be: 18mpg = 13.07 Litres per 100kms. Avg fuel cost in the province I live right now (not summer peaks, current) is $1.75/Litre. GAS truck = $22.87 per 100kms...
  5. XLT SR Kelowna BC to Langley in Winter

Hey sorry one more thing....what tires are you on? Are you on the factory stock tires, the factory AT tires, or something else? When I tried hwy driving at 115, I got like 37kwh/100km, at around 8*C temps. Hope to Merritt is about 120kms, using 35% means using 45.85kwh, so you hit about...
  6. New Lightning Owner - Tesla Supercharger, Ford Navigation app, other questions

Interestingly, I do see Tesla chargers in the Ford app itself....I will see if I can find them in the new "Public Charging" icon on the main screen next time I drive
  7. New Lightning Owner - Tesla Supercharger, Ford Navigation app, other questions

Got it, thanks! Yea our Electrify Canada account is no longer a paid thing, so we are getting the base rate anyways now (was free for like 1500kwh or something with our ID4). So if there is no price difference, might just run thru Ford app.
  8. XLT SR Kelowna BC to Langley in Winter

    Interesting....thanks for the tip!
  9. New Lightning Owner - Tesla Supercharger, Ford Navigation app, other questions

Thanks for the response. Follow up for you....and sorry to ask the public this but my dealer did a piss poor job of helping me set things up. Re the Blue Oval network.... In my Ford Pass app, I see it as a "Connected Service" with a button to "Activate Trial"...? Why is this a trial? Is it...
  10. XLT SR Kelowna BC to Langley in Winter

Hey Glenn, have you done Hope to Merritt in the winter before? My new Lightning Flash is on the AT tires from the factory, so no studs, but likely worse overall. Asking here as I am not on Facebook anymore. We are planning a winter trip to past Vernon, so this is super helpful ( I just...
  11. New Lightning Owner - Tesla Supercharger, Ford Navigation app, other questions

Hi all First off, what a mission to find one of these trucks if you have a colour preference! We now have a '24 Flash trim, and love it so far. Pic attached! A main reason we got this was for the supercharger access. However, my Ford dealer really :poop: the bed and was beyond unhelpful...
  12. What’s your exit plan for the truck?

Just FINALLY got our '24 Flash trim. My plan is drive it until I sell it to my kids in 10-12 years. Ditto with our first EV we bought spring last year. That's how you beat steep first 2-3 year depreciation curves, is to own it so long it doesn't matter. My wife and I plan to take whatever...
  13. What’s your exit plan for the truck?

You only keep brand new vehicles for 2 years as a general M.O? To each their own of course, but electric or not, you are taking an absolute beating then on value then as that is the absolute steepest part of the depreciation curve
  14. Selling because I drive too much.

Wow, that's brutal! I think that converts to 52kw/100kms....yikes. that's 200km using 80%.... I really thought the aero shape would help more than that. With our tent trailer I was getting 39-41 kw/100kms with our tent trailer, at about 105kmh (65mph). So about 20% better than you but going...
  15. Selling because I drive too much.

Tom, what was your efficiency on average with the Lightning while towing that teardrop trailer? EDIT: I saw some range figures, but wasn't positive which trailer you were talking about. And when you say usable range, does that mean using like 80% of the battery, or?
  16. Would You Buy A Lightning Again?

My take on this: In 8 years, there will be an even more established market for battery swaps. Look at all the folks turning a 2014 Leaf from a 100 mile range vehicle to a 350 mile range vehicle with a battery swap out. Because of the above, I look at it less like "no one will want this"...
  17. Max tow = range impact? Told by dealer...

Great data, thanks! And that's all with the AT tires? I'd be pretty stoked if I could get lifetime avgs on the lightning to be sub 26 kw/100kms efficiency. Heck even sub 28. Electrical prices here would put that at about $3-$3.50/100kms cost of fuel. Tad bit better than the 12-13L/100km...
  18. Max tow = range impact? Told by dealer...

Wow that's wild, in cdn terms that's 4.48km per kwh...at the 131 kw capacity gives a theoretical range of 580kms, above the official one of 515kms. That's like 22.3kw/100km....which I got around town but not hwy. Good work! Based on your time and distance your avg velocity was 67mph. When I...
  19. Max tow = range impact? Told by dealer...

Yes I agree the mass is negligible. I've even seen some you tube tests of having 1500lbs or something in the bed, with minimal aerodynamic changes, and the efficiency barely moved. Like under 10% worse. As for the power consumption while it's on, I guess that's the real source. And as a non...
  20. Max tow = range impact? Told by dealer...

K, as a data nerd, what are you using to generate these? Is this from an aftermarket thing or is it in the ford app (which I obviously don't have yet since I don't have a truck yet)?
