  1. Why isn’t the Lightning getting more of the gas F150 market?

I agree that pretty much sums it up. But a day will come when the pendulum will stop and suddenly go the other way. And some day in the future, a person will say do you remember when cars used gasoline and you had to go to a convenience store to buy gas? How inconvenient!
  2. Yeah or nay!

Ok, I will tell you the same thing I told my kids and now my grand kids, “An automobile is nothing but heartache and misery, and the sooner you accept that, the better off you will be.” (In other words, don’t do things to your vehicle that results in you being too proud of it or cherish it...
  3. No news must be good news.

I have had my MME (56k miles) for 30 months and I have had my Lightning (30k miles) for 14 months and I haven’t had any issues. I have gotten software updates at night, a few recalls, but by and large, both vehicles perform great. Yes, I have to spend more time planning major trips, but we have...
  4. Why isn’t the Lightning getting more of the gas F150 market?

Regarding dealers talking people out of EV’s, I think they have read the tea leaves so to speak. The EV’s might go 100k miles without even a brake job. With no oil changes, there is no opportunity to look the vehicle over and suggest this or that maintenance. Once the majority of vehicles are...
  5. Charging to 100%

I typically charge 60/70 % to 100%, because the vehicles are useless to me if I can’t leave in a moments notice and drive 200 plus miles. My 22 MME now has 60k and my 23 Lightning has 30k and I haven’t noticed any battery degradation on either. I’m guessing that by the time I need to address...
  6. Ford Telsa Adapter. - difficult to plug in

Plug the Tesla end into the adapter first. I have had to put the adapter against the curb and push real hard. It will not work unless the latch on the adapter is fully engaged. Then connect the adapter to the truck.
  7. Enable Drive / Reverse With Door Open

I have exactly the same experience with my 23. I want to back up just an inch to hook up my boat trailer, but I have to close the door to get the truck to move. What a pain!
  8. New member 24 Lariat ER

And, never assume, error on the side of caution, and have a plan! just this week, I hauled a refrigerator (upright) and a stove 220 miles, and the added wind resistance, weight and cool weather required a charge on the way. The truck nav wanted us to stop at an EA charger but the EA AP showed...
  9. Anyone have a HIS installed in the San Francisco bay area?

Don’t waste your money on HIS. Just have a generator bypass switch and plug installed when you have the charger installed (yes there are GFI issue that require a work around) I can run anything in my house (except AC) just not at same time. I also have solar panels that I disable when using the...
  10. Charge Station EV conversion to $4.50 per gallon @18mpg

EV’s only make sense when you are doing 80% ish of your charging at home. But also, there really isn’t much competition when it comes to fast chargers, the last thing I look at is charging cost rate, I’m way more interested in whether there is an available plug or if the Tesla cable is long...
  11. Is Ford Pass app essential? My phone is too old to install it.

It’s time to get a new phone. The first time the ap informs you that you had a charge failure, and you really needed it fully charged the next morning, it will be worth it! There so many other little things that the ap does that you will be thankful for, but you won’t know it until you need it...
  12. Cost for public charging: Tesla v. Electrify

I have found that fast chargers are so few and far between that the last thing I look at is the cost. I’m just glad a space is open (available) so I don’t have to wait. When chargers are 100 miles apart and your remaining range is 100 miles, your options are limited. Since less than 10% of my...
  13. What’s your exit plan for the truck?

My plan is to drive my 23 Lightning (26k) and my 22 Mach E (56k) indefinitely. I typically replace the wheels just before they are about to fall off. I haven’t found a junk yard stocking up on EVs yet. My only problem is I’m 76 now and I’m not sure if I will be still turning wrenches at 80ish...
  14. What would break under full acceleration?

I seldom ever go full throttle, but once I was towing a Chevy diesel pickup truck up a hill (car dolly), with truck owner sitting in passenger seat and is said to him, watch this! I full throttled, and rocketed up hill towing his truck, and his response was “holly shit”!
  15. New owner questions

I just added a generator plug and switch and it works fine( I had to jury rig the ground wire). For securing the Ford charger that came with the Lightning, I plug it into the truck but leave it in the frunk and close the frunk.
  16. HV battery range seems very low after AC charging

The miles versus the percentage is always a calculated value, based on latest miles/kw, ambient temperature and probably other things. So, if you were last towing (meaning miles/kw were low) then the calculated miles range will most likely be low. So, once you know your vehicle, just concentrate...
  17. Is Anybody Happy With Their Lightning?

My 23 Lightning will be 1 year old in November and now has 24k miles on it, and I have no regrets what so ever. Any person not liking a Lightning would most likely not like any EV. My Lightning has been back to dealership for a couple warranty issues, that were taken care of.
  18. Is Anybody Happy With Their Lightning?

What’s not to love! My Lightning will be a year old in November and it has 23k miles on it. It replaced my minivan and my full size truck. The only thing I miss is the 8 ft truck bed. And my Mach E is 26 months old and it has 53k miles on it. But EVs are not for everyone, you don’t go on a 1,500...
  19. Charging Apps Question

A couple aps fcomes in handy, but it is sensible to keep it at a minimum. I tend to default to EA and Tesla, so to do a little Pre-trip planning, I can look at the EA ap and then look at the Tesla Ap, (in my living room) before a trip. Also the Plug share Ap filters are handy. Plug share is also...
  20. Red pull tab near left driver’s foot.

Thanks, I suspected something like that. I will try pulling it a little harder. I miss the old paper manuals ?
