interesting post, as all owners will have a different experience, but, we also may all have different EXPECTATIONS, about, well, a vehicle that has 4 wheels to take you from one point to the next, like any other vehicle.
but, when it comes to expectations about all the 'extras', well, that's...
for my 'Direct from the truck to the NEMA 14-50 inlet' power to the home, the 8/3SOOW cord has the ground wire, but I removed the Ground PRONG to allow the truck to not 'fault'.
Works great, and used it for 'whole house' power just this Friday after the Hurricane...
I turn off my Main Panel's...
I've noticed lately, with my PRO, that when I attach my camper, it no longer asks me to 'choose' anything: it just defaults to TOW/HAUL mode, automatically and the GOM adjusts, but that's it.
unless you are driving off-road, maybe a spare tire is not warranted - most cars now don't come with them... also, you'll have to have a spare tire MOUNTED on it's own rim, since a 'tire', itself, would not be near as helpful - I think we worry too much, as an 'old school' thought, that a spare...
you can power anything in your home, as long as it doesn't exceed the 30amp capacity of the truck's bed outlets/rear inverter... but, honestly, most folks in a 'dire' or potentially long-term outage are not going to live like they do under 'normal' circumstances - you probably aren't going to be...
we were originally in the DIRECT path of the hurricane, and well prepared for it's impact, but when it came onshore, it turned slightly NE - leaving us close, but on the 'clean' side, where we no only did not lose a single Tall Pine, and even some of those are already dead and ready to fall, but...
I think you've answered your own question: 120v power is just fine, for now, or even the foreseeable future...
you can always add 240v, if you wish...
Let your needs dictate your choice, not everyone else's ...
well, who 'else' would you want them to 'rely' on??
unless you have a multi-carrier cellular connection, it's only going to be 'one' network...
also, the locations/chargers are already pre-populated in their mapping system - the cellular carrier or connection is not going to cause you to...
we see these all over the FSU Campus in Tallahassee, but their buses use a roof-mounted system, where they simply drive right UNDER a special charging apparatus, and no 'driver interaction' or plugging in is required...
I agree, and as an insurance agent, myself, for over 30 years, and a LIGHTNING owner, these threads where owners 'compare' and 'complain' about insurance pricing have NO bearing in the real world.
We all want to 'compare', but as I tell my own customers, even your NEIGHBOR, with the exact same...
I've noticed, too, that my local dealer's SCHEDULE SERVICE website tool offers several differing options to choose from:
I would think any 'drop off' will, unfortunately, not be put in any urgent schedule and simply waiting behind all others already there... 'Waiters', though, might get...
it's probably not a big deal for BOLT owners, or those with EVs which max out at 50kw, anyway, since they can get that basically at ANY Dc Fast Charger - having to use an adapter, and figure out how to 'fit' at Superchargers, might be more than they want to deal with, since it won't get them...
if it's easiest to use the existing 30amp 10awg wiring, and the same 240v 30amp breaker, then get a $150-$200 ADJUSTable 240v EVSE that you can dial down easily to 20-24 amps... probably a LOT cheaper, and much less 'trouble', than re-wiring:
to use your Ford MOBILE EVSE, on it's 240v adapter...
even if you could possibly pull the full 10amps of 120v power per hour, on a typical DAY of full sunshine, the WHOLE day, you'd only be adding possibly up to 1-2 miles of range.
seems like a VERY expensive way to do anything reasonable.
I think in all two years of charging at many, many, many different locations and charge providers, I've had ONE time where the BlueOval account payment did not activate, or the payment didn't 'go thru', and probably it was due to my card replacement which I had not updated with FORD...
like any solar array that's ever been discussed for EVs, this is very unsightly, but if you can get past that, it's also a hazard for easy theft... I'm not even sure 'how' you plug your 120v EVSE into this thing, other than there must be some type of INVERTER connected, maybe that sits in the...
while we can complain that they don't show up in one system, or the other, the best option for the time being is to handle it yourself - Google maps / Tesla's own Supercharger map, etc.
You can also choose to navigate to a building right at the same place as a known supercharger if you really...
