  1. Squirrel Chewed Through Charging Wires

For those with a garage, the best trick I've ever seen / read about is the ol' water bucket with a wire from edge to edge and a soda can or plastic water bottle or a similar round cylinder placed on a horizontal axis in the center of the wire, smeared with peanut butter. The rat smells the...
  2. Squirrel Chewed Through Charging Wires

After Sonny Boy had a damaging invasion of mice into his Ford Fusion (them Kentucky mice are a tough crowd!) we both invested in this device, available at Amazon: Loraffe 2 Pack Under Hood Animal Car Repeller Rodent Electronic Repellent Device 12V Rat Ultra Sonic Strobe Light Get Rid of Mice in...
  3. Any options for 120V manual transfer switches?

I have, and recommend, the ProTran Reliance Model 31410 C 30 amp load-side transfer switch.
  4. APIM USB update taking forever

Nice! Over on the Mach E Forum, there was for a while a rich discussion on the various available & recommended flavors and sizes and speeds for the USB sticks, and which ones were better than others and which ones were inadequate... then someone reported using a portable SSD and that pretty...
  5. Ford Charge Station Pro not connecting to Pro Charger app for initial set up

Yeah that's how I understood things, and yet thank You for the 2d opinion. 80 amps is no joke :like:
  6. 2023 Ford Lightning, 4,000 miles - 5 out of 6 lug nuts and studs sheared off of the right front wheel!

With the now-gone Mach E and continuing with the Lightning, I carry around an old (REALLY old haha) Snap-On torque wrench precisely to torque wheel lug nuts to their high torque during wheel changes including after road mishaps. Carrying this old Snap-On torque wrench also allows me to check...
  7. Ford Charge Station Pro not connecting to Pro Charger app for initial set up

Resurrecting this older thread for one specific FCPS multi-car amperage auto-adaptation capability question... Background: I've had my FCSP connected for a month now. It works very well with my EV-only Time-of-Use electric submeter and my 2023 XLT ER truck. Background #2: this Ford EVSE was...
  8. F150 Lightning FORScan thread - Version 2

I helped another member here with turning on the glare-free headlights, and just as a side lark we played with turning on his Beosonic digital equalizer afterwards. We could instantly hear the difference in his truck. I note that his truck is the Platinum trim, the one with the most speakers...
  9. Retractable tonneau covers?

I seriously considered the Retrax but with our short truck beds, I didn't like the loss of room for the "spool" canister. I went with Decked Drawers instead... gained a whole lot of really useful locking compartmentation for tools and camping gear, and a tonneau-like top bed surface with eight...
  10. Curious why some do not use 1 pedal driving.

I see no reason to use 1-pedal after trying it out.
  11. Does AWD stop working with reduced power output/range?

This is actually pretty good news imho... Kudos to the smarts of Ford engineers!
  12. Ford Floor Carpets

I'm pretty happy with the Ford OEM accessory rubber mats, especially the one for the rear floor.
  13. Ford Charge Station Pro (2024 Review)

Ford has ceased to equip 2024 trucks with the dual 40-amp chargers inside the truck. Now the truck's charger component is limited to 48 amps.
  14. Living in The Lightning On The Road -- Almost a Year and Counting

FYI I got a McGyvered adapter for such a use case from Amazon three years ago, for use at just such an older RV location. Actually used it twice between then and now.
  15. driver door failure to open outside and inside

This thread has caught my attention. Two points to contribute: 1. I had the inner door panel off and on several times, for a different reason (power-folding mirror wiring). The mechanical linkage for the door latch system looks to me just like normal mechanical linkage on many car doors I've...
  16. APIM USB update taking forever

I do not think this is normal, based on my personal FDRS updates for the Mach E and the Lightning. Sometimes they do hang. I faintly remember that member Mike G had posted a fix / workaround procedure for this either here or in the Mach E forum. However, it was so long ago that details escape...
  17. Living in The Lightning On The Road -- Almost a Year and Counting

I've noticed this on our previous EVs (Ford Mustang Mach E and on my Sonny Boy's used Audi E-tron). It seems that every dang car manufacturer insists on proprietary "brick end" connectors for their different plug whips  I mean... it's just wires, right? So we now have standardized...
  18. Living in The Lightning On The Road -- Almost a Year and Counting

Hahaa - I know this setting 'cause I use it myself ;)
  19. Living in The Lightning On The Road -- Almost a Year and Counting

There's a setting for this on the truck's Sync screen: SETTINGS / VEHICLE / 30-MINUTE SHUTOFF. It's the top blue toggle on my Sync screen at that location.
