It does lock in the down position if you bought the bed extender. The bed extender has two pins that lock into the lower holes when it is deployed and that keeps the tailgate from flopping up and down.
I have no idea which of those two serials are bad, or if both of them are. I only got one email, but I have two adapters.
If I were guessing, I'd say the earliest one made (on the left) is the one that is in the suspect group, simply because others who've posted with dates made 4-5 days before...
I recommend those posting info about their adapters include the manufacturing date listed above the serial number on their adapter, rather than their reservation or delivery date.
That way we can bracket what day(s) the bad batch(es) were made.

I got one email from Ford the other day, but I own two adapters.

Installing a higher amp hour battery like the Die Hard sounds like a good idea but if the BMS is configured for the 36 amp hr battery we have now the...
Then they weren't using the correct settings. They were likely using the CCA settings for a 36AH battery instead of maxing it out like you're supposed to when doing programming. This has been discussed several times on the FMC dealer tech forum.
Not getting that BMS sensor replaced is gonna cause you more problems than it's worth in the long run. You will end up having numerous issues relating to a low 12V battery because it won't be getting recharged back up the way it's supposed to until you get the new sensor.
Originally very early...
