It does take some planning if you're going across rural areas. But I'm not sure why you are running into issues.
The FordPass app Public Charging section seems to be basically 100% accurate (where I've used it) in showing available chargers.
I turn on the: Ultra Fast Only, Available Now...
Ugg yeah, I misread the table.
Looks like Vader Black was removed altogether.
I'm just looking at options to make the grill look more like a conventional F150 or just better in general.
1800lbs is for the ER battery, so it's closer to 170Wh/kg which is pretty common for NMC lithium batteries of this generation. 1800 lbs includes the giant enclosure, and the individual module enclosures, and all the other battery stuff which adds up.
It seems from pictures that the grills on the '24s are darker and glossier than the '23s which are kind of flat and grey.
Has anyone seen a '24 in person who can confirm?
What's the big deal?
With incomplete context, It looked staged, there is a lot of anti-EV propaganda, and a lot of it comes from the type of guy that would say "fucking battery operated trucks."
Also, there have only been two other reported Lightning fires out of 72K+ sold, one in the Ford...
A flooded vehicle you would probably find rings of muck at whatever level the water reached.
Look around the footwells past the carpet in the back behind the seats. You would probably see evidence of crud if the truck were ever that flooded.
To me, that just looks like the previous owner...
It's actually less efficient to have an engine drive a generator to power electric motors than to just have the engine power the wheels directly.
If you have a battery large enough to handle 90% of daily driving, and limit the range extender to the other 10% it probably works out economically...
Lightning uses about 25kW continuous at 2.4m/kWh.
So, towing while doing 65mph probably uses around 60kW continuous depending on what you're towing of course.
Who would leave an expensive truck abandoned in the middle of nowhere? How did that person abandon it? Did they walk through the snowy forest on foot? Did they get a ride but couldn't push the Ford Assistance button to get a tow even though all Fords come with 3 years of free roadside...
People will buy whatever works for them.
The reason why I harp on 500+ mile for me is:
1 - To get a large part of the audience for 1/2 ton pickups, it should match at least match the utility of an ICE truck with a 24 gallon tank. It doesn't matter what people 'need.' It's what people want and...
What vehicle are you talking about? The Volt or the BMW i3? Both are pretty terrible examples of generator integration.
I agree that the better path for the long term is next-gen batteries plus better charging speeds and infrastructure.
By the time the Ramcharger comes out, other truck makers...
I agree it's more complex which is why long term it doesn't make sense. But short term, it does address the biggest concerns of traditional truck buyers.
As far as the gas longevity goes, clearly the Ramcharger will have to run the generator periodically to cycle the gas. In cold weather, it...
The Ramcharger isn't a hybrid -- just to be clear -- it's a BEV with a generator.
Long term, gas-electric generators won't make sense and trucks will be all battery (when gen2 or gen3 batteries are mass produced), but short term it makes a lot of sense as an interim technology.
Put a 60kWh...
FYI, this was driving me nuts....
If you are hearing a creaking/rubbing noise that seems to come from the back, especially when driving slowly or while flexing the body over bumps, there is a high chance that it's the sunroof creaking where the rubber seals meat the body opening.
The fix from...
Thanks for putting this up. I have the same issue.
Just to ask a dumb question, when in the video you say "towards you" what does that mean exactly?
If the door is fully open so it is nearly perpendicular with the truck side, and you loosen that bolt, it looks like you would move the door...
It would be nice to get controlled data on the difference. But I think you're right that it's not going to be a big difference.
The loss in range is dominated by the battery temperature. When people lose 30% or more in the cold, it's mostly from voltage sag due to the cold battery.
It takes...
