Sure - here is my use case, which breaks down into 3 major areas. I think it really comes down to having a 4 person family and doing more road trips than you.
Daily commuting / grocery shopping / etc. - both vehicles can do this easily, slight edge to the EV9 for maneuverability and parking...
So - I have been nervous about both resale value and (EV) parts availability ever since Ford made the cancellation announcement, so when I saw our local Kia dealership had some nice deals on EV9s I went in to check one out. A few days later and I have a Blue EV9 GT-line on order. As long as...
I have been getting that message intermittently for a couple months now. Only impact I have seen is that I had my first update fail for a low 12V battery.
I checked mine last night and no updates since April 2025. Pretty much what I expected. While there I also checked my wife's Mach-e and it has had no updates since March of 2025.
How small the battery size needs to be really stands out here as well. The Lightning ER battery costs around $20k as best we can tell (if someone has a better number, Happy to update the math). If they can sell for $10k less, than the build price must be about that much cheaper, but you also...
21 Mach-e and 22 Lightning here. The Ford Options loan just matured on the Mach-e, but we are keeping it and rolling it over (get to keep the 1.4% interest rate) because it has been a great car and my wife likes it. As for my Lightning, I am not sure what I am going to do - I had planned to...
Eh - I can respect the invention of the assembly line, but given Henry Ford's Nazi-like philosophies and friendship with Hitler, I would be happy if nobody thought like that anymore.
That depends on what size battery they put in the EREV. I am guessing it will be on the smaller side to keep costs down, but no one really knows. If the battery is sub 50kwh, that would be a pretty bad EV.
I strongly suspect we have seen the last of any updates for the Lightnings of all model years unless something is required by law. Why would Ford spend any money on something that won't and can't return the investment. It's not like we can come back and buy another one!
Sorry - have to disagree, we have taken unplanned weekend road trips many times. That said, it is likely location dependent. The Northeast is pretty good for charging infrastructure.
The Taycan's are VERY nice, but take a look at the used prices on the Audi E-tron GT (same car, different body), I couldn't believe how cheap they were!
